I recently started thinking about reloading for my 8MM egyptian FN-49, I have had this rifle for about 8 years, From the first range trip I noticed that it has a tendency to dent the spent brass.

I have checked everything I can think of, but cannot come up with a cause, The feed ramp is in good shape the chamber is clean, no evidence of headspace problems, (the cases are not burnt or discolored), The dents are ALWAYS the same.

Please excuse the bad drawing, I could not find any of the spent brass, The areas in red indicate the location of the dents, They are "maybe" 1/32" deep.

Other than the damaged cases, the rifle works perfect with any ammo I care to feed it. But it is agrevating to have to throw away boxes of empty brass.:banghead:

Try turning the gas down a bit, in other words, open up the gas escape port a bit more for less violent ejection and that might prevent the dents as well.
