Specifically, how far the bullet will travel on an unobstructed path until it hits the ground based on specific criteria like: caliber, grain of bullet, velocity, etc.?
 
Um, maximum range is a parabolic arc
the bullet is fired at 45*, then for advanced use, you calculate the friction (drag) for the air density and the specif gravitation acceleration (drop) and where it intersects Y axis, va-la...

BTW a .22 can fire ~2 miles

And now for the stupid answer
the same time it takes a bullet dropped from shoulder height, actually that isn't 100% correct, but I'm not into quibbling over .00009% of a percent... YOU won't be able to tell the difference.
