I've seen so many posts about .380's lately, especially Bersa's, and was wondering if anyone else out there shoots an Astra Constable.

I have a Constable II in .380acp, and it's a beauty of a gun. Nice fit and finish, hasn't choked on anything I've tried in it. I use it as my carry gun in an Uncle Mikes IWB.

Just curious to see how many others are out there.

WELL, THERE'S FOR DAMNSURE TWO OFF US NOW !!!

My ASTRA CONSTABLE II 380ACP is a delightful gun. Mine too has never malfed a round and is accurate with 25 yard groups under 1 1/4" at 25 yards with the FEDERAL 380 HYDRA-SHOK JHP loads. It'll shoot my lead bullet handloads into 1 1/2" at the same distance, all of 'em dead on the sight picture. I have tested a bunch of handloads in my CONSTABLE with none of 'em equalling those FEDERAL loads and you might not know how irritating it is for a died-in-the-wool handloader to admit that.
The ASTRA and STAR pistols are/were world class pistols from Spain and I have never owned a bad example of either of them. I had always wanted an ASTRA CONSTABLE 22LR pistol but never saw one for sale. Ended up with a BERSA M23 22LR instead and to this very minute it has never jammed a round, the total of which is just a bit under 20,000 rounds of 22LR ammunition. If memory serves the BERSA 22 has been cleaned three times in those 20,000 rounds. I'm a lazy so'n'so when it comes to cleaning guns anymore.

One of my first pistols

It was a fun gun easy to shoot. All my friends who shot it though ended up getting bit by the slide. lol

Ah I'm a new Astra A-60 owner

I just had to reply to this old post as there is minimal info on the A-60 out there

It is a blued 13rd 380, anybody else have one??

I had one about 15 years ago. It was the best .380 auto I have ever owned and I have owned a bunch including some high dollar ones.

The ex wife took it with her. And I really miss it but not her.

I had one in .22 back in 1988. It was chrome plated (NOT nickel) and engraved at the factory. That gun was pimped before pimped was a verb.

That Constable was the gaudiest handgun I've ever owned. Shot pretty good, though. I sold it in 1990 to finance another gun.

I saw a chrome engraved one just like that at my local shop about two months ago. It was marked at 500, though, so I gave it a pass. Even if it looked dang cool.

Do any of you have the A-60 which is the 13 round model, I was told these are not very common ??

I hope the weather breaks so I can try mine out more than the 13 I put through it day 1

My dad has one. Can any of you tell me how to field strip it? He wants me to give it some TLC but I can't figure out the takedown system.

Grip takedown lever(above trigger both sides) between thumb and forefinger and pull downward., pull slide to rear and lift up.

Had one in .380 and one in .22 about twenty years ago. Always wanted to like them but neither performed very well so traded them away.

I have two Astra Constables, both in .22LR...

I originally bought one for my ex-wife (who wasn't an ex at the time) and liked it so much that I also bought one for myself.

They were originally blue, but I sent both of them to Metalife Industries to have them hard chromed...

When we divorced, one of the Astras went with my ex-wife until about ten years later when she was planning on moving out of the country and couldn't take the Constable with her. So I bought it back from her...

Mine has had about 10,000 rounds through it and 'hers' has had about 1000 that I've put through it and another few hundred that she put through it while it lived with her.

Both guns look brand new...

And, no, I have no plans to get rid of either...

This talk about Astra Constables led me to pull one of my .22LR ones out of the safe today and feed another 100 rounds of Remington Viper through it...

It shot as well as always...

Flawless functioning as well...

Astra Constable

I've just inherited an Astra Constable. It shoot's well but the magazine is bad and the feed occasionaly gets messed up and causes the gun to jam. Does anybody know where I can find any magazines? Even if they are after market.

I have one, a .380. I bought it pretty much on an impulse, for $150, as I had always wanted one. I haven't shot it yet. Overall, short of shooting it, I am impressed with everything else about it.

Astra 380

I have an astra 380 that I have had for about thirty years. I have not shot it in about twenty years and can not remember how to strip it. If you find out I would appriecate it if you would pass the information on to me. Thanks

Astra Constable 380

I also have this gun. I have had it for many years. It shoots well and the fit and finish are of a pretty high quality. I am happy with this weapon. I carry it in my travel tailer when we go camping.

I bought one new years ago and when I pulled down on the disassembly block, it broke right off! I replaced it and the gun has been reliable since, though I admit I don't shoot it often.

Astra Constable Jamming problem

After firing about 3 to 5 rounds in my Astra Constable, 380 cal, a cartridge will not feed into the chamber and jam between the slide and barrel. Sometimes it will fire one or more clips before it jams again. Can this be caused by a weak recoil spring or my magazine??

Hi all

Just got my third Constable (I had a Constable and a Constable II already) -- this one is a 500 -- Zero_DgZ if you're still around, you missed out, there were only 450 of them made.

The 500 is a single-action version of the standard 5000/Constable.

All mine are in 380 ACP.

I regret not buying a friend's a couple years ago. I've had zero issues with every Astra pistol I've ever had, and I wanted to make the "set" complete. I have an A-100 and two A-75s, in .40 and 9mm. Great guns.
