Any other Astra Constables out there?

How 'Bout that? I was wondering the same thing since no one seems to mention Constables here. I had one years ago - must be close to 30 - and traded it in on a 10/22. That one was a Constable like Storm's with the thumbrest grips...but I shoot lefty more comfortably. Last month I walked into a gun shop (gotta stay away from there!) and spotted a Constable II in the original plastic case, 2 mags, NO wear anywhere; must have spent all its time in the safe. Must be at least 20 years old. For $229 I didn't hesitate.
Haven't fired it yet. As I recall the recoil was kinda sharp.

TG...I think Numrich has magazines.

I got one new years ago, took it to the range, and the takedown block broke on the first shot! I replaced the part and put a few hundred through it, but I don't like (or maybe trust) it enough to use it for any serious purpose.

Astra mags and parts

Jorge is your guy for Star and Astra parts, and some Llama items.
He lives in Zaragoza, Espana, and has a lot of NOS and good reproduction stuff you can't get anywhere else.
Great guy, exellent service, but with confidence:

"............. regarding Constable magazines, I have none here at this moment, but I'm getting a full box of factory new ASTRA magazines, including Constable ones in .22 .32 and 380 calibers. Will be available in about 2 weeks.

Will be priced at $40 plus shipping depending on quantity. Be sure to let me know if I can be of further help."

hey guys,
first time caller, long time listener
i just traded for a astra constable, lnib. the guy i got it from said 9mm but it had .380 amo in it. i am new to this cal, 12ga is my usal. so what is the deal. 9mm =.380?

No, .380 is known as 9x17. 9mm is 9x19. The bullet itself can work in either case, but the case is 2 mm longer.

Astra Constable 380

I too have an Astra Constable 380. I love this gun! I ordered a new magazine for it a couple days ago. Can't wait to get it back in action! Seems that the old magazine swelled at the top and now it will not even push the bullet into the chamber. Excellent gun overall.

Worked for a govt agency in the '70's. Carried the .380 Astra. Never failed. Saved me against 3 opponents over the years. Traded it out in the '90's to have nothing in the house but 9mm. WHAT A MISTAKE! Miss that gun. Only complaint was the damn screw on the grip was ragged and bothered my palm. Trusted my life to that machine for more than 20 years.

I have factory original Astra Constable magazines in .380 and .22LR, in used but excellent condition. Anyone interested, send me a PM.

Hey guys, I have a Constable .380 and I was thinking about selling it. I was wondering if I should have it refinished or keep it original as it has plenty of holster wear? Thanks in advance for your advice. Feel free to PM me with any questions or purchase or trade.

CaptEric, you wouldn't have been a Postal Inspector were you? A friend of mine had his dad pass away recently and found out his dad had left a gun to him. My friend's dad had said to him once that it was his duty weapon; his dad was a Federal Postal Inspector. The gun is an Astra Constable II. I'm thinking about taking it off his hands as he said he needs some money.

What do you guys think would be a fair price; what have you paid for an Astra Constable?
