A fellow at my department was telling me about glock 21's jamming at shooting competitions. Anyone had any problems with this? Or the 21's jamming at all?

Probably tens of thousands of rounds are fired through G21s every single day. I'm sure there's an occasional failure with that kind of sample size. :)

I have a friend that makes every gun jam, but the G21 hasn't succumbed, yet.

I have owned allot of Glocks. Never had a jam and only one FTF with upwards of 20K rounds divided through them. Most jams from a Glock are due to limp wristing. My 21's have been 100%.

it's either nonsense, or ammo related (they don't like SWC's). the g21 is one of the most reliable 45's on the market.

I would say they are limp wristing it . Thats the only way i have seen a glock 21 jam. I personally have not had any problems with mine.

I've had my G21 for years. I seem to remember it stove piping once or twice when I first got it which I thought was from "limp wristing". Since then I don't recall any other problems.

I don't think there is any widespread problem with the Glock 21 "jamming." :scrutiny: They are issued or authorized by many law enforcement agencies. You would hear a lot more about it if they were.

I've had a few failures to feed with bullet styles other than round nose in both of my G-21s. (HP, SWC, FP)

Whenever I hear this, I immediately assume that these pistols have been "tuned" by the owners with aftermarket parts & springs.

@clw

i believe you are right, most from after market parts. It also has something to do with competition shooters. Some comp. shooters reload there .45 shells with less powder (make the round less hot) for the ease of muzzle whip. I imagine these rounds would make it stove pipe? Please correct me if i'm wrong or anyone else has any idea.

Anyone have a favorite polymer .45 acp??

I just had one for 6 months or so, fell out of love with it due to ammo cost. No problems though.

I will note for whatver you think it's worth Larry Vickers who's a big firearms personality (Gunsmith, gun show host, former death dealing super soldier) has said that while he likes 9mm Glocks, he does not have any use for Glock 45's due to reliability problems he has seen with them.

I beleive Glock has in fact dropped the ambi safety version of the 21SF due to problems, but have not heard of jamming being one of them.

Probably a typo, but I think you meant ambi mag release.

The only time my 23 jammed was during rapid firing with one hand. Don't believe the problem was with the gun. Have fired more rounds than I can remember with no further problems. Same with the used G 26. My neighbor says his 21 has never FTF or FTE.

Of my G21.3, G19.3, G19.4 (not mine), and G27.3, the G21 is the only one that has never had a stovepipe/limpwrist, even when shot by an arthiritic shooting buddy with a size 1 mitt who can't even open a jar. It's also, by far, the most accurate of the bunch. Oh, did I mention it's also my oldest Glock? I must have shot 500 rounds through it before I even bothered to figure out how to clean it, with the only equipment I had - Mobil One and the nylon brush that came with it.

Larry Vickers can believe w/e he wants. I consider my G21 to be my most reliable Glock (and most reliable handgun, period, revolvers included).

It's also my only Glock that has never thrown a piece of brass at my face.

I've had a 21 jam on me, several times (this was a 1st gen 21). It was such a negative experience that I decided it wasn't worth the effort. I've shot several other models of Glock (17, 19, 22, 23, 26, 27), and no problems with any of them. Except that early 21. Maybe it was limp-wristing, I don't know. Anyway other pistols work better for me, so I stick with them.

Just put 200 more flawless rounds down range with my 21 2 days ago. I got into guns really trying my best to hate Glocks, but doggone is it tough to dislike them.

Most every day the 21 goes on my hip. Boring, ugly, and completely unsexy. But effective and reliable to a fault.

Have two 21s both with aftermarket wolf threaded barrels which have not failed with or without suppression. Trust them enough to be my go to weapons when at my home or work desk (yes thats why two).

I doubt it's limpwristing. My G21 is the one Glock that won't limpwrist even if I try. Even that guy that made the Glock limpwrist videos - the ones where he holds the gun with only his thumb and the trigger near his waist, muzzle perpendicular to his arm (talk about a safety issue; guy could have shot his own head off if he had an accidental doubletap), - even he had trouble making the G21 jam.

This video definitely proves that a Glock 17 cannot be counted on to reliably cycle when you shoot it in an unsafe manner. How terrible to not have rapid, successive chances for missing your target and having a negligent discharge!

Hey. Watching that video, I'm really impressed with how low the bore axis is on the G17. The gun recoils straight back, even when he's barely holding it!
