Based upon comments to my query here on which Redhawk you would recommend, I bought one with a a 5 1/2" bbl. Now I would like suggestions for a holster for it.

Thanks in advance.

Galco has a pretty good holster it calls the D.A.O. made for the 5-1/2" Redhawk.

I like the Galco mentioned earlier and a similar model Bianchi called the Cyclone. It too has belt slots that allow either strong side or crossdraw carry. You will appreciate that versatility.

Ben, you beat me to the punch. I also will recommend Mernickle's leather. A good friend of mine ordered a belt/holster rig from Mernickle for his bird's head grip .45 Colt Ruger Vaquero. He also bought a handcuff case and a slide on bullet loop ammo carrier at the same time. He was quite pleased with Bob's products, and they looked good, too. He used this as his duty rig for the last couple of years he was a full time Texas Peace Officer. He is now retired, but he sure turned alot of heads when he wore the Mernickle rig (since this in Central Texas where the west is not so wild anymore). Anyhow, I highly recommend Bob Mernickle's leathergoods.

My 5-1/2" Redhawk fits PERFECTLY in a British military surplus leather flap holster originally made for the full-size .455 Webley revolvers - if you can find one on the cheap at a gun show, surplus store, or in the "used holsters" bin at a gun store, it will serve you very well as a hiking/hunting/camping holster.

New-manufacture reproductions are available at www.ima-usa.com and at Pacific Canvas & Leather([email protected]) for $34.90 + s&h.
