This may not be the place for this, so feel free to move it.

Does anyone know any reliable Milwaukee FFL's to ship a gun to?

All of the local Smith and Wesson M&P Compact 9mm's are going for like $550 used, all of the online ones are even cheaper than that.

So just curious if there's anyone that you guys have had experience with.

I'd add up the whole cost of the gun including shipping and transfer, print that off and take it to Shorty's or Fletcher's. They can usually come pretty close on the price if you ask. You will have to pay the sales tax, but you would owe that as "use tax" on your state taxes at the end of the year anyway.

Buy local when you can, keep our gun shops in business.

Give Todd a ring a BTK Firearms in Hartland, just outside of Sussex. Great guy and cheap transfers, he will get you a good price if you just want to but outright from him, also does a decent volume of class III toys too!

sorry guys, forgot to post back on this. thanks for all the input, my local Gander Mountain will price match, but I will check into Shorty's as well!

Shortys has been very good,, bought several guns from there and always enjoyed the experience.

Fletchers, not so much... never had a warm and fuzzy feeling there. Can't say why, so take that for what it's worth.

Shooters in Racine is my current go-to for FFL Transfers, and is just a short drive south.

Naturally, dealers are not all that happy about you bringing in something that they can sell themselves, so if you want an alternative to a store: There is a FFL named Ronald in Milwaukee that is a classic kitchen table FFL as well that I know and like. He's a collector, shooter, and does transfers literally at his kitchen table. PM for his number if interested.

Thanks for your input Willie!

I'll PM you here in a bit.

I went to Shorty's on Friday, during rush hour, bad idea. I'm going to make my way back there, possibly tomorrow.

It seemed like a nice place so I'll have to get in there and talk to him and see what he possibly has for used and what he can do on the M&P Compact that I want.

I understand that they wouldn't be happy bringing in something that they could sell, but one would think that would help to make them lower their prices for a deal possibly.
