So milsurp mausers are very popular, and many custom guns are built on their actions, but you need to find milsurp parts to start. Doesn't anyone make a new reproduction bolt or reciever or stock, or anything?

With the popularity or the K98's, yugos, swedish, and turks, etcs, I'm suprised no reproduction parts are made. Even if you don't want to build a custom, maybe you just need a new firing pin or bolt for the old K98.

Or am I just not looking in the right place?

Thanks

There are some repro. parts made but with so many original parts around I don't think it makes too much sense at the moment to reproduce entire bolts and such, as they'll be more expensive than originals.

There are so many variations over the years that making reproduction parts for anything other then a standard 98 would be very difficult.

Folks who build custon guns normally start out with a complete & working action of known quality, so they don't need replacement parts.

As for new 98 actions, any number of them are or have been made through the years, and are available for building custom guns.

The new Remington Model 798 is a brand new 98 Mauser action.

New parts are available from CZ & Remington.

So would a bolt from a Remington 798 fit a WWII K98? How about the extractor and the ejector?

I do believe that they will fit a standard 98 mauser. There are new Zastava mauser bolt bodies on Gunbroker and they will fit a standard 98 action. You can get them in magnum bolt face also. Extractor and ejectors are readily available.

I have two newly manufactured Mauser hunting rifles. One is a Zastava Mauser, now imported under the Remmington name. The bolts will interchange with a standard length Mauser action such as the K98. The primary difference is that the Zastava Mauser has an adjustables trigger. Both have sporting style safeties. They are nice rifles.

there are commercial model 98 actions still being made to this day... the 1898 mauser action wasn't only used for military rifles

When I needed a new bolt body for my Parker Hale 1200(mauser), my 'smith told me to buy one off SARCO, or from Shotgun News. He modified it to fit. The gun worked but still needed to replace the cocking piece to fire CCI primers. Not sure where he got that. Gun remains a tack driver, even when it was broken.

Interarm's MK X and Parker Hale had parts on the surplus market that are very good quality replacements.

FN makes actions.

Scope bases for Sporterized M98's are M98-style. Burris, Weaver, Redfield, etc.

Most modern bolt action centerfire rifles have some Mauser technology in them.

There are some folks that make new parts: Triggers, trigger guards, safeties, etc. Timney makes a nice trigger.

I am sure Wolff makes springs for it.
