Thanks cluttonfred, I just ordered one. I will post my thoughts after I receive it.

I really like Beckers. I have owned hundreds of knives over the years. At one point had 118 balisong patterns alone...

The one I carry first, and if I could only have one it would be my Cold Steel Bushman. One of the Cheaper blades I've ever owned. I have literally binned more expensive steel.

Somewhere around here I still have a small bushman with the 4" blade and that one is a daisy of companion as well. YOUR MILEAGE WILL ALMOST CERTAINLY VARY.

Looking at these blades I wanted to 'collect' them but had no idea they would become my favorites.

Not everyone will love this pattern like I do.

So I would tell you to buy a Becker with a gun to my head... in a less urgent setting I would say try as many as you can. Buy something you like, of decent quality because you may pass it on to somebody when you find THE ONE.

I know I've given hundreds of knives away, probably have less than twenty including machetes and my sword.....

I have one of the Bahco knives, is IS a Mora, just rebranded.
It would seem that they are closeView attachment 208784 The knives and sheaths are not completely interchangeable. The blade dimensions between this Bahco and a Mora Companion carbon steel are much the same. But I have a Mora Companion SS that has a thicker blade:confused:
Bahco 2444 blade thickness .08" Mora companion carbon .08" Mora companion stainless .1"
The spine on the Mora carbon and Bahco stainless is unfinished, the spine on my Mora stainless is finished but with bevel edges  none of these knives can spark fire steel without modifications.
For $9 shipped the Bahco seems to be a very good deal, this Bahco will go to my son so I will have no other comments on it.

One difference I noticed between the Bahco and Mora was the blade grind, the Bahco's edge grind is taller on one side and shorter on the other:scrutiny:
Wine makers often make a lower cost wine from the 2nd pressing of the grapes, and sell it with a different label.

For that kind of money, I second Bark River or Fallkniven. Look at their entire line. I have a Gunny, Bravo-1, and the excellent Fallkniven F1, and S1. All will serve you well.

I also just discovered Becker, and for the money their knives are hard to beat. I just picked up a BK-16, and really like it.

I ended up buying an ESEE. However, I am curious about those Bark River knives. What steel is used in the models you have?

I bought a couple of Alaska Knives last year. Didnt use the skinner yet. Prices were both under $75. They will probably top on list when I go to buy another.

I have never had a knife over $100, so I am not sure if I am missing somthing or if it is snob appeal.

In addition to Bark River, Rapid River and Hess knives are also out of UP. I like the Hess White Tail, nice size, not to big.

For price and made in USA, I like Bucks. I like the ultra light series, easy to clean. You really can't have to many guns or knives.
