Any suggestions for a small flashlight?

My EDC is a Streamlight Microstream. Takes a single AAA, very compact, and the clip fits nicely in the pocket just like a pocket knife. I find myself using it several times a day, every day.

And at under $20, it doesn't hurt as much when you inevitably leave it behind somewhere.

Streamlight ProTac fan here, and I've carried a 1L daily since 2011. Morning-noon-night, January through December, and it's always on me. I like the pocket clip since it keeps the light out of the bottom of my pocket and the retention is very snug so it stays in the same spot all the time until it's needed. I use the version that takes a single CR123 battery, so I've enjoyed a good amount of lumens coupled with a long runtime. Also, being under $40 makes it a great buy. I've recommended it to at least four friends at work, as well as stuck one in my wife's purse, and we're all carrying them now.
 
Thank you gentlemen, I am going to look at most of of those.

My idea of carrying is loose in a coat or pants pocket, but a pocket clip could come in handy to it properly oriented.
 
I'm a big fan of Fenix lights like several others above, but I also have a Terralux Lightstar 220, which runs on two AA batteries. It has two brightness levels topping out at 220 lumens, but there are 190 and 300 lumen models as well, I believe.
 
I was at Cabela's today -- I like the polytach and the scorpion. I know I said small, but I bought the new 1L-1aa streamlight and it got lost in my hand -- I think I would have a hard time manipulating it. I need a little more "beef" i guess.
 
Streamlight Protac series. The best is the 1L-1AA. Can run on either one cr123 (350 lumens)or one AA (150 lumens) Very cool. Has high, low, and strobe modes that can be set programmed to be set up in preferred order. They also have a dedicated 1AA model that only runs 70 lumens though. And a 2AA model that's 150 lumens. The 1L-1AA is the best and brightest in the smallest package.

I have an olight T15 3w that I have been carrying daily for about six years for general illumination. It uses AA battery and has 10 or 90 lumen setting. It's held up well and I've been happy. Cost significantly less than the other brands you mentioned. It's abou 3/4" longer than my middle finger.

You should consider upgrading to the new 1L-1AA. Anout the same size as your 1L but puts out 350 lumens with a cr123 instead of the 180 of the 1L. Almost twice as bright. And can also use a AA and still put out 155 lumens. Plus the pocket clip can also clip to a hat or car visor or something. It's a def upgrade.

Wow, lots of advice but....for what purpose? Weapon light? general duty? Vehicle flashlight? C'mon, throw us a bone here. ;)

For anything OTHER than a weapon light look for something that won't make a bad situation worse. Imagine you're in a car accident (or helping at a car accident); you need a flashlight- but due to the fumes present you aren't comfortable using your tacticool flashlight. You were carrying dead weight all that time.

The Pelican 3315 is more than bright enough for general use and rated for use in explosive environments.
