Id like to here from any owners of the railed taurus 1911

what are your thoughts on quality?
any issues?
holster compatability?

im interested in buying the steel framed model and want to here OWNERS thoughts

please dont regurgitate taurus hate from third party sources

thanks in advance guys

thanks weregunner the owner part was more for those that would just bash it for being a taurus without ever having real world experience with it

My friend has the pt1911steel frame with the rail. It's not mine, but each time we go to the range I get to shoot it. I've not seen a lick of problems with it. It eats all types of ammo and is accurate. I'd give it an A+ for the money.

I know what you mean Demis. The "Anointed Ones" who proclaim that they see all, know all, and anyone else does not get one after a while. Silly, but one has to guard against them.

I consider myself a information giver regardless of brand though my association with Taurus, Ruger, and some other brands is large. So the intent is to give as much info as possible to the query and let the intelligent people make their decisions based on what is actually known as fact and the truth.

If a person chooses the brand or brands off of information, fine. If not, no biggy. What fits them and what the gun matters to the OP or indivdual is what matters. Nothing else.

No harm,no foul.

Funny thing about the self proclaimed demi-gods. They behave exactly the way the people in Washington do who will not listen to the will of the people, common sense, fact or plain truth.

The rest of us are just too dumb to get it is their mantra.

Here's my take on the Taurus PT1911: If it were labeled under a different brand, say RIA, it would possibly have enjoyed the same excellent reputation as the RIA has today. Taurus simply has more than its share of detractors.

thanks for the thoughts guys
heres what ive found doing internet searches and alot of info from here and abroad
for every BAD review of the PT1911s ive seen at minimum 5 GOOD ones
i know im not getting a Wilson or a Baer
i know its not to the high standards of nighthawk
and everyone will jump up and scream oh my god its not a real colt

but i bit the bullet and dropped a deposit at my local dealer to order me a Taurus PT1911B-1

ill post in a week or so when i get to shoot it

I bought, or actually traded for, a used PT1911 and it's been nothing but perfect for me. Mine doesn't have the rail and I have been able to use it in a variety of plain old 1911 holsters. I don't CCW with it, but when I do pack it I use a paddle holster (can't remember the brand name, but very similar to Fobus) or a belly band.

If you're buying one with the rail, holster selection might be a bit more of a challenge. I'm looking for replacement sights for mine but the straight 8's are fine with me. I would just like to have brighter sights as my eyes aren't what they used to be.

I have no idea what the round count was before I bought it but it didn't look to have many. I've put at least 500 through mine so far with not 1 hiccup. It is accurate, reliable, fun to shoot and doesn't need to be upgraded. I don't know what else you could want for the money.

I have a pt1911 - has been nothing but reliable and accurate - mine has the figure 8 sights and I didn't think I would like them, but now I actually prefer them. So, yes is my answer. I also have a Kimber and a customized springfield 1911 and I got the Taurus originally to shoot the H*ll out of it for practice - rather than my higher dollar guns all the time. I have shot it a lot and I have come to really love it.

My brother has two Kimber 1911's and decided to get a Taurus after shooting mine. He took his with him when he went to get his master certification for pistol - through the Illinois State Police training facility - he finnished 2nd in the course in shooting - lost to an old retired officer - who was shooting an old stock colt 1911 - I think bro dropped two shots and the old guy one.

The only two problems I have personally seen and experienced - both minor - one the bluing is dull and will wear - which I don't really care since it is an everyday gun and would wear anyway - and two - my brother found that one specific type of aftermarket magazine that he had (wish I could recall the name now) - were too tight and would stick in the gun making it difficult to remove them - could have fixed this with a little filing on mag but he's got about 60 or so mags so he just put them with his other guns- so just test any mags like you should anyway.

As had been said test any gun with the ammo and mags you will carry before you do depend on it.

I also have gocks and like them, shoot them well, but shoot 1911's better and the glocks have been as reliable as the 1911's.

yea thats my plan
i intend on just shooting it till it falls apart and probably repair and shoot it again untill i either buy another or move on to something else
i do my best auto shooting with a 1911 so i almost felt like i needed one
problem was i WANTED alot more than i could afford ive said it before that i could easily make due with a basic milspec model but i wanted more features and the taurus fits the bill
not that i dont take care of my firearms but this one will get serious use i cant wait till i have it in my hands
