I have a TC Pro Hunter frame with 4 different barrels including a MLer and have to say all of them were tack drivers from the start.

I am kind of looking at the new TC Icon in 7mm.08 (there were only a few made and I love that calibre) and am wondering if there is anyone on here that has an Icon and willing to post a review. Thanks for any and all replies.

I hope you find some good information. I wouldn't hold my breathe to get a lot of responses though. The Icon just doesn't seem to have caught on. There's only about a handful of threads on here regarding the Icon.

If you care to read it, here is a link to a problem I had with a T/C Icon in 308 I purchased a few weeks ago.

T/C had to replace my original rifle and thus far I'm pleased with it. It has excellent balance, a good user adjustable trigger, simple scope mounting system, a two position safety with a bolt lock lever, and the fit and finish seems top notch. I have not had a chance to really sit down and find what loads the rifle really likes but it will shoot Federal 150 grain Powershoks and 150 grain Hornady SST's into groups of less than 1".

Well my own personal experience with TC was all pre- Smith and Wesson and that is my main concern. It does seem almost every time a really good "smaller" company is bought out by a Big Dog, the quality goes down the toilet. As I said previously, all 4 of my TC barrels are tack drivers and were from day one. I can actually compete with a couple of my Hart barrels with 2 of them and that is a major accomplishment as far as barrel quality goes.

There are two local gunshops in my area that have had some good sales on the Icon. Fortunately(unfortunately for me) I seem to be the only one who got a lemon.....and these two shops have sold a bunch of Icons. I am pleased at the level of service T/C customer service provided.....but I was very persistent too!:D

It is pretty expensive for a non-custom and not established rifle. I personally have always thought of T/C as a company that makes modular single shots.

If you shop around you can find deals. After I get the rebate back I will have $400 in my Icon.

I don't know where you're shopping, but I want in! I've yet to see an Icon for less than $800 and I doubt they're offering a $400 rebate. For $400, I'd go out and buy one this afternoon.

That's what I think too. I'd at least like it to look a little higher end, especially for the price. The ones I've seen for around $800 have had plain jane stocks, satin finish wood, and a satin finish barrel. I've seen Ruger rifles that have better looking stocks and higher polished bluing for a lot less money.

Two local dealers were selling the Weathershield Icons for $549.99 in 308 Win, 243 Win, and 30 TC....subtract the $150 rebate from TC and you come up with $399....+ tax of course. I think the wood/blue finish models were $599....I know a bunch of people who bought these rifles.

The gun was designed with the input of George Garner from GA precision. If you look at GA's custom actions and the Icon, there are a lot of similarities. The barrel is 5r. The stock is block bedded. It really is a step up from the basic rifles offered by most companies. My biggest gripe is the ugly ICON ingraving on the left side. I'm looking for one in .308 myself. I think you get what you pay for, and I'd be all over one for $400.00. I do like the look of the wood better.

The action--barrel and trigger are pretty much the same--minus the scope mounts.

The Icon has a much nicer stock and bedding---but my Venture still shoots lights out.

I bought a .30-06---if I had the money--I'd go get the .270 that had too.

Forgot that they had a synethic stock version. If the could get the Icon Classic down around that range then I'd be interested.

Hi All,

I've just gotten one of the rare 7mm-08 Icon's. I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet but I'll let you know when I do. I love the look of it. It's got a weathersheild barrel and the UltraWood walnut/carbon fiber stock. In fact, that caused me a problem. It was too pretty to hunt with so I bought an Icon in 30 TC as well. The 30 TC should arrive next week.

The 7mm-08 was on sale for 800 - 150 rebate = 650.
The 30 TC, won a Gunbroker auction for 542 + 40 fees - 150 rebate = 432.

There are some Icons on Gunbroker for 600 - 700 range.

Good luck to all, I'll let everyone one know how they shoot. And one of the great parts about this hobby is that everyone gets to have their own opinion and "vote" with their own dollars.

Olympus,

They did have some of the wood models but they were $50 more. If you are interested shoot me a PM and I can check with the dealer to see if they have anything left. I was happy with the synthetic stock myself....it's a Hogue with an aluminum bedding block. Feels much better than your average Remington/Ruger/Savage synthetic stock.

We're gonna need to see some pictures of both!

Hi All,

It took me a while to get photos. I really struggled with the technology. I used a film camera (oops, batteries dead, quick trip to Radio Shack), 1 hour photo developing at the drug store, followed by scanning in to my computer (quick refresher course on cropping/editing/rotating photos), setting up a Photobucket account, and finally finding some instructions I understood over at Rimfire Central (I posted some nice pictures of a Mossberg 333 that I bought in 1973 and recently pulled out of the closet and got working again).

Anyway, after all that frustration I think I got some nice photos of my Icons. The blued model is the 30TC and I've been shooting that quite a bit to work up my handloads. It is great.
The weathershield model is the 7mm-08 with the fancier wood stock. I've only shot it enough to sight in the scope but it is very nice as well. The rebate for the 7mm-08 just came in so I'm feeling extra good about it.

Here's the photos.

This last one is the whole family. The Mossberg is on the left, the Icons on the right and a couple of Savages in the middle.
