Curious to hear more from owners on this scope. Not a bunch out there.

I think this is the answer to replacing my Trijicon Credo 1-6 (returned)

I'm curious about opinions on the dot size. I'm not sure why its a tiny tiny 0.17 moa dot, maybe has to do with the fiber optics/tritium? Is it too small or do you like it?

Reticle choice? I will be going with mil dot. This is a battle rifle build and while I do like the Mil dot and precision hunter reticles in the 3-9x40 Credo offers I like the no batteries (fiber/tritium) the TR-20 offers as well as a petite 13.4 oz!

Any first hand info is much appreciated :)

I have 7 different fiber optic Trijicons in including the 3-9. IMO only the triangle post (red or green) is suitable for defense use with a 3x bottom. Very difficult to quickly pick up a close in target at that magnification with the tiny center dot.

I like my 3-9 for the range, but think a 1-4 or 1-6 is a much better option for defense which would almost always be at short to medium range. How likely is it that you are going to be shooting at bad guys beyond 400 yards?
You did specify “battle rifle”.

Perfect response :)

So you have the mil dot reticle?
Yes battle rifle build but I failed to mention I will be doing an offset red dot. There are some 37 degree offset mounts that make for a super smooth transition. I am pulled to this TR-20 because the weight is stunning! I had the 1-6x24 trijicon Credo that I returned, I simply cannot do an LPVO 1x they are not great IMHO. I can be at around 19oz TOTAL with this 3-9 scope AND a micro red dot/mount. My bare rifle is 7lb 9oz and feels good. add the credo 1-6 (18.9oz) aero 30mm mount 3.6oz it starts to feel heavy. And this is before suppressor and weapon light so I want to go light as possible.

The TR20 would be used as magnification whilst RDS up close. I dont have personal exp with this setup but many think its the future.

Yes, green mil-dot with Bobro QD mount. I use an offset red dot (Arisaka) with a fixed 5x Steiner. I like this mount because it has 2 angle options and fits tighter to the scope than others. Your set-up sounds even better if you want longer range capability.

Pic of offset rig. 8lb 9oz as pictured w/o the suppressor.Extra light 18” Ballistic Advantage SS 3-gun barrel.

BEAUTIFUL!
I wish I could find a fixed 8-10x scope that was ultra ultra light. The Trijicon TR20 at 13.4oz will do. There is a Luepold on ebay for 100 less with the fire dot reticle and mil dot hashes, its 12oz. IMHO there is a market for fixed power with the offset RD setups. Garand Thumb has a video where him, a Seal and an older dude who has served in infantry to SF in BOTH Ireland and US over his career. They all feel a scope with off set RDS is the future of optics. They had LPVOS which go from 17-24oz depending on brand. They all said basically leave LPVO on max magnification all the time. Use RDS to locate, roll over to scope for long range.

I'll check out this mount also. I'm looking at the Arisaka, Trex arms mostly. They are at 37 degrees. The Scalaworks setup is at 35 degree and pays great attention to having the scope and RDS on the same circular plane. So that when you roll from dot to crosshairs they always will be on point. But scalaworks I dont think makes a 1" mount and they like 6oz. I have the Aero ultralight (3.2oz) but 30mm (selling), but could get the 1" version. They have a 1.5" sight, I think I might like a little taller.

Your weight is impressive! What can is that? I'm just entering my 90 day wait on my CGS Hyperion K.

Can is a Griffin Armament Explorr EX-2. Normally on my SHTF 12.5” AR. I swap around that and the heavier GA Recce 7 for a number of guns.

I meant to say Recce 5 though I do have Recce 7s for my .30 cals.

Hey since your around and have the Trijicon TR-20...I have having a terrible time finding a mount I want for the 1" scope. I had no idea all the new hotness and existing hotness in scope mounts all offered 30mm/34mm only.

I REALLY want the Nightforce Ultramount 1.93. I have researched the crap out of scope mounts and thats the perfect one for my build. The only lighter option is the scalarworks by half an ounce but I dont want a hinged. Then only lighter is Aero Precision but I want more durability.

Anyway I imagine you use 1" rings or have found solutions? Thanks again for chiming in here :)

PS: My ATF eform 4 was officially submitted 7/27! woot woot, although it's about 160 day wait time currently, oof.

I use a QD Bobro 1” mount, but my alternate is BUIS so want the quick off feature. With your offset dot that may not be important to you. I have not tried any other 1 inchers. A quick check around I only found ones whose quality I don’t trust. Bobro, Larue and Geissele are the only high quality mounts I’ve used. I know there are others just as good, but don’t know the brands. The tiny screws on many budget mounts just look too flimsy IMO.

I’d make sure you get a good cheek weld with the 1.93. I’m good with the normal height.

Thanks for reply! I'm checking out borbo. Yea so its becoming more of a trend to use higher mounts with a slight cheek riser. Precision shooters are liking it more. I have a stiff neck so this theory really appeals to me. I have an Aero Precision 1.5" mount and spent few weeks with it mounted with a 1-6 LPVO and I didnt like how low it felt, was not natural for me. I can go 1.7 with Badger mount and Badger reducer rings, that may be the only scenario I feel okay running reducer rings as badger is a fine manufacturer. I really wanted to run the Nightforce ultramount but they dont make a 1". I did email them asking if there was any reducer rings out there they would endorse.

Borbo makes a 1" at 1.93 but damn it's 10oz!
