I hate to sound like a smuck, but when I buy a Ruger anymore, I always buy an old one. The newest Ruger I own is a Mark II and it's not a really new gun is it. I also have a Mark I bull barrel.
The Mark II is better than a Mark I because the bolt locks back after the last shot.....usually..... When I shoot my Mark I I'm always letting the firing pin down on the empty chamber, which means, of course; that the pin barks the edge of the chamber.
Otherwise I have an 80's Single Six, which I like.
I own a pretty new 10/22 mag, which might be worth something as a door stop.....maybe the worst gun I've ever owned. Ruger designers should be shot for designing and actually selling that 10/22 mag. The only thing is, if they were shot at with a 10/22 mag they'd be safe as the gun wouldn't go off.
I used to love all Rugers and I used to tell people, "If you want to buy a gun try Ruger first". I no longer say that.
If you want an auto buy a glock or a High Power (Also a Kimber, others). If you want a rifle buy a Savage or a Remington. If you want a shotgun by a Browning or a Remington. (there are lots others, of course.)
Now-a-days I look at Ruger last.
And those ten round rotary magazines for their 10/22? About half of mine don't work.
Bill Ruger was a great gun maker and a competent businessmen. Since his demise something happened at Ruger and it's not good.
