Anybody Else Sick of Buying EBRs?

I'm sick of the EBR's. I have an M4 that I hunt with, does that count as an EBR?

I did change the Mattel plastic grip to a rubber pistol grip from Bushmaster (BIG improvement)!

never owned one.....never will. carried one for a year in Nam. What a POS!! never got off more than 3 rounds before it jammed. plus i hate the looks of them. probably cause they remind me of my tour there. :(

i like the looks of hunting rifles with real wood on them. But......YMMV.

so i am curious, would remingtons line up of r-15 rifles be considered ebr's? i am really not even certain what ebr stands for, but i am guessing from the tone of things you are talking about what the gun control freaks consider asault rifles.

I wasn't into such weapons in '94 so I don't remember the particulars. But I took the following quote off Wilkpedia (and we all know how reliable that is, right ).

Semi-automatic rifles able to accept detachable magazines and two or more of the following:
Folding stock
Conspicuous pistol grip
Bayonet mount
Flash suppressor, or threaded barrel designed to accommodate one
Grenade launcher (more precisely, a muzzle device which enables the launching or firing of rifle grenades)

So looking at the Remington website for the R15, and since it only has the pistol grip and detachable magazine, and since the above quote says an EBR must have two EBR features in addition to the detachable mag, I'd say no, the R15 is not an EBR.

But with the dims in Congress, who knows what they'll say.

Sick of buyng EBS? Nah, not really. Picked up a used M4 last week and am sending out money today for another PTR91.

My only problem is feeling like I have to buy all the ones I may want NOW. Normally, I'll buy several guns a year. This year, a few other things I'd like to buy are going to be put off so I can get a couple more EBRs, mags, and ammo just in case Obama is able to get a AWB passed. Its not that I wouldn't have bought them anyway, but I don't like having to reorder my priorities and purchases merely to hedge against legislative pandering to the halfwits in our society that equate gun control with crime control.

If I wasn't spending money on EBRs I'd be looking to get all sorts of non-EBR guns that aren't going to be on any ban list, better optics, and work on a few special projects with my gunsmith on the EBRs I already have. I'll get those eventually also, but for now the money goes to guns with the highest probability of getting on a ban list in the next 4-8 years.

I've tired of it as well (but then I started years ago and there's just no way to rationalize having more than a couple of variants of anything unless you're a serious collector). I completed my collection goals on milsurps. I've gotten all the EBRs I could ever "need". Can't think of any good reason to buy any more (ok, I don't have a para FAL, but I gotta have that built anyway).

Stop letting these jack offs in DC control you.

Dont go out and buy something simply because it may be banned soon. Its like being a little kid and crying because mom poured more cereal into your brothers bowl.... WAAAH!

If you really love shooting and enjoy collecting guns. Just do what you want! Buy the guns that feel right to you.

If you are really into leverguns and revolvers.... so be it! Buy them all up and feel good that no matter what happens with Obama, no one will try to ban them for at least another 15 years :)

Basically, enjoy your hobby in whatever way turns you on. Dont be like these fools who spend 17 hours in line to get a PS3 or whatever, just for the sake of having it.

Not really sure about the other items on your list, but the M1A isn't technically an EBR. They were available during the '94 ban.
So were AR-15 type rifles and civilian AK's (my AK is a 2002 model). You could not, however, get them with threaded muzzles or bayonet lugs, or fit them with adjustable stocks, etc. if they didn't already have them prior to Sept. 1994.

And be aware that H.R.1022 et seq would ban any semiauto rifle ever procured by the military OR ANY U.S. LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY as an "assault weapon," and I guarantee that some agency somewhere has procured M1A's.

I don't think another AWB is all that likely, but if something like H.R.1022 is passed, it could affect everything.

Nope. Only owned one: Stag Upper/Lower with all other parts from arf.com that I finally sold to a friend who begged and begged for me to sell it to him. Nice profit too. Sad that now I need to go buy some lowers so I can build more later. ...and yes I already am a member of the NRA (ILA) and a few other organizations.

I really hope we all look back on this and laugh, if it does turn out that behind the media hype he's just another politician who won't do anything about anything.
