Maybe not the right place to put this but I'm wondering if there is a mountain or a range in the Kalispel area called Sheep Mountain? My Grandfather moved from the Creston Montana area to Alberta in 1929 with my dad and uncle and I'm going down there in a week with the hope of finding where their old farm was. There is a photo in some of my gramps stuff that says Sheep Mountain but I'm not sure if it is from Montana.

I have some pictures that were taken of Creston around 1918 and I'm assuming this picture is looking east from there. I'm assuming east because on Google the terrain to the east looks to be more mountainous and by the picture the rocks look to be fairly high.

I looked

Cant find sheep mount. not even a sheep creek, It could have been re named
since back in the day.

When you get up here ask a oldtimer from the area.

Sheep Mountain

I lived in Kalispell when I was a kid.

We used to go shooting on sheep mountain. I was only a youngster, so couldn't give you directions. However, there was a range up there, and we used to shoot muzzleloaders out there with a blackpowder club.

I haven't heard that name in a while.

Thanks guys. At least it sounds like there was a Sheep Mountain. Both my Dad and Uncle are dead but my Uncle gave me the names of some of their neighbours so I think if I track down some old timers in the area and with the pictures I have I should be able to get close to the farm. My dads mother died when he was three so I'm looking forward to seeing the area and seeing my grandmothers grave in the Conrad Cemetery. I understand it's a beautiful area.

FWIW-
"Sheep Creek "is way central Mt near King's Hill Showdown Ski area.
I know you mentioned Sheep Mountain, others mentioned Sheep Creek, so I thought I would clarify where Sheep Creek is located. My Great Grandfather was an original homesteader in Minn & Big Sandy,Mt where my uncle has run and lived on the family farm for the last 72 years. Hope you find out your land heritage, sounds interesting!
Best-Mike
