anybody have a 45acp load using HPC1 POWDER

HPC1 powder is old military surplus powder.

And the manufacture will not discuss it with you without the original lot number of the powder.

If they will even discuss it then, which is very very unlikely.

The original GI .45 ACP load used was supposedly 5.0 grains with a 230 FMJ 230 grain bullet.

SO, reduce it 10% to 4.5 grains, and work up, very carefully!

I've never heard of HPC1 powder, and I've heard of them all, at least all of the powders sold in this country in the last couple of decades. Who makes it and where did you get it?
 
The name HPC-1 suggests to me that Hercules Powder Company made it for the military years ago when they were still in business.

Other then that I can't tell you a thing about it, other then it's old military surplus bulk powder that was being sold 10-15 years ago by several companies.

Thanks rc. i bought a few years ago and haven't needed it. that is what i have heard 5gr for 230gr. bullet, i was just wanting to see if anybody had any experience with it.
