Bryan I have no experience with the Ruger,however I have using scouts since 1994 all of in 308 and could not be more pleased with them .They are quick for close in and with some practice a250 yd shot is not a problem.Hope this helps Doug
Here's a range report I posted this spring. I fired it @200 once this fall from prone and put the first three into the bottom half of a 5.5" bull with no holdover from my usual 100 yard zero. That was good enough for me. I rarely see open shots like that where I hunt.
On another note, that Aussie surplus .308 is good stuff. I couldn't get any load in the 150gr bullet range to shoot any better that that stuff did. I think the limiting factor for me is the low power magnification and my 49 year old eyes.
