Just saw this on CNN of all places. THere was a S. Carolina polotician who held a Machine Gun Social instead of standing around a country club drinking white wine he said. I personal love it but this seems as though it would freak out some anti's in a hurry. Was this a bad or great idea?

Good idea, he showed that a bunch of responsible people could enjoy an expensive hobby without any kittens or puppies or young minorities trying to get their lives back on track and go to college being hurt.

It was a $25 a plate BBQ that included a clip of ammo (don't know if it was a 10 round stipper clip or if they meant a 30 round mag) to shoot a semi auto AK47 that was being giving away at the end of the dinner.

Semi-automatic AK-47 ~= "Machine Gun"

(~= is "not equal to" in MATLAB, but I doubt anyone here knows that program.)

The AK was the raffle prize, the machine gun shoot was supposed to be with a different weapon.
Many in SC questioned why a guy running for head of the National Guard here chose to give away an AK instead of an American made AR, for example.

I went by to register for the prize AK, which was advertised as free, with a $25 price to attend the BBQ. The gun range/shop employee where it was being held would not register me for free, he claimed to know nothing about that, although it was on the news.

Its obvious he wanted to give away a good weapon, not some crummy generic AR.

When and where in SC was this, I live in the upstate and never heard a thing about it.

I am sure a good time was had by all and the weapons shot were full auto but the one given away at the end of the social was not.

My question is how do you think anti 2nd amendment folks saw this? Do they see the light and realize that responsible people who want to own guns full auto or not are reasonable people?
