I'm weighing a job possibility in Cheyenne, WY. What's the gun scene like there?
Any other information would be useful, too. Is it a "pretty" town? Is there anybody there who can do repairs on my poor, old SAAB?
Thanks.

I was raised about 75 miles North of Cheyenne on a small farm. I have not been back in many years so would hesitate to give comments. It is COLD and WINDY in the winter and HOT and DRY in the summer. If you hunt, there is good Pronghorn hunting nearby, some mule deer were close and for fun you can't beat popping a few Prairie dogs. There is also some decent Pheasant hunting near Torrington.

I have family there, and visit every couple of years. I would not call Cheyenne a "pretty" town, but there is pretty country all around it. People are good. Seems like a pretty 'gunny' place to me. Packing.org would have the legal stuff you need to know.

as far as guns go, wyoming is a whole 'nother world compared to what you are living in now.

people are amazed at how loose the gun laws are here in s.d., and we only get a 'd' from the brady bunch. imagine how things are in wyoming w/ their 'f' rating!

i really like cheyenne, and wanted to move there, until i found out the in-laws were moving to denver... cheyenne is too close to denver, so unfortunately had to rule it out. however, since you wouldn't have to deal w/ my in-laws, i think you'd like it...

Windy and cold,windy and hot,windy and snowing , windy and windy, Their nothing pretty about Cheyenne . they are gun friendy and their are some pretty areas in the state Cheyenne just not one of them . RR was only reason for Cheyenne. :)

Iwaldron;

Cheyenne is the home to Warren AFB, one of the two missle HQ's in CONUS. It is at the junction of I-80 and I-25. Denver is an approximate 100 miles south, with the Colorado corridor starting in Ft. Collins, about 50 miles south. The state capitol is also located in Cheyenne, with all the hoopla attending the legislature when it's in session.

Although I lived in Wyoming for decades, I passed through Cheyenne without stopping if I could help it.

I don't know what your job criteria are, but there are better towns in Wyoming. Of course, there's Gillette, Jackson, & Rock Springs if you want to tour the low points also.
