I've been playing around with my lever rifle in .41 magnum trying to see what it can do. I recently read a page (that I can't find now :banghead: ) written by a guy who trimmed down his .41 magnum brass and made .41 special loads with it. In his pistols it seemed to work great. I think he was getting more consistant rounds than if he'd just light loaded the rounds.

Anybody here making their own .41 special rounds or are you just light loading your .41 magnum ammo? I'm looking to make light plinking loads and maybe something to take little fuzzy critters at <50 yards without blowing them apart like a 210 grain HP traveling at 1800 FPS will.

He was most likely getting more consistent results because of the smaller case. Less powder position sensitivity.

Just use a bulky(trailboss comes to mind) powder in the magnum case, and load it to lower pressures/velocities.
