I've had a Ruger SP101 gathering dust for a few years and finally decided to get off my back side and put some loads together. I've already got 78 and 100 gr lead bullets and 100 gr JHP. I've also got pretty much any handgun powder you can think of. As far as brass, 1000 new Starline cases. I'm not looking to build SD loads, just something to hear the gun go pop and put a hole in paper or soda cans. Yes, I have every loading manual known to man. Anybody load for the .32 H & R? Any powder you had less than good results using?

BEEN loading the 32H&RMAG since 1985 if memory serves and not a single appropriate propellent ever did anything weird over the chronograph or in the pressure gun. That would be about twenty of them at last count. Your manuals are full of data for this cartridge.

I use a lead WC or a Berrys plated WC for light plinking/informal target loads. N310, WST, Bullseye, & Competition all work well.

I use XTPs for full power stuff. Not hot, just full power according to the manuals. I have used W-231, True Blue and N340 with success here.

I have one gun that loves the Ranier 100 Gr plated bullets, but the other won't shoot them well.

    It's a fun round.

I use my own casts for plinking. Red Dot or 231 or Unique for powder and for SD Hornady XTPs.

My son in law has a gun in this caliber and told me he wants to reload for it. Good timing on this thread.

This one is a .32 Long, but it looks basically the same as when loaded in .32 Mag, except I load the bullet out little longer in the Mag. I shoot the .32 Long in an auto.

I have used Bullseye, American Select and Trail Boss with 98 and 115 gr cast lead bullets. A fun plonking and plate shooting load.

Bludot and trailboss are the powders this little ruger loves to have under the cast bullets.

I haven't thought to try Blue Dot. I think I will.

I'd be curious to know details on the blue dot loads.

Ive used hp-38 and Ram. Enforcer with good results using 100 gr MBC cowboy #6's.

A Page from Hornady's own ballistics lab circa 1989. Back in the day when I needed load information I would just call Hornady!
