I looked like quite a hike out to the sites. Did you tote your kayak all the way out there? If so, I'm impressed...

Gawd no! LOL All I can do to just hike my fat butt out there. I don't really like that unit for that reason. I'm gettin' long in the tooth to be hikin' that. Would be not so much problem on dry, even ground, but mud rutted up by cows, then toss in salt grass, It's a major pain hiking that. I've done it this year even, but it was miserable. We done good out there, though. Be nice if you could take a 4 wheeler or dirt bike. You could make it about 3/4 of the way probably before it gets too muddy for a 4x4 or dirt bike. But, of course, that's not allowed.

I went out to the mission bay unit this morning. Nothing, didn't fire a shot. 3 teal buzzed me low right at shooting time and I couldn't get on 'em, then one bunch turned for me, but set down the lake from me. There were two other trucks hunting farther in and they fired one shot this morning. I don't know if maybe the flood has washed out something, not sure what's going on. It was so good early and now it's just dead, dead, dead. It wasn't bad weather for it this morning, either. There was plenty of duck weed where I was hunting. Anyway, last day is the 24th so I think I'm pretty well done with ducks for the year. I'll start hog hunting and maybe do some goose hunting when the weather permits, if we get some good low ceiling, foggy days. I've got to do the year end cleaning of the Mossberg and put it up and get out my 7 mag. I'm going to take it to the range and check zero and mount my spotlight on it for some hog hunting. I wanna use it for the bright scope I have on the thing.

I knew it was going to be a bad morning when I gassed up the old van, started south out of town and the serpentine belt chunked. I horsed it home (no power steering pump) running the lights as little as possible and keeping an eye on the temperature. It never boiled over, but did get a little warm. It's 4 miles back to the house. I tossed gun, shells, deeks, and such in the car and took it, then when I got down there realized I'd left my hunting seat, so I had to stand up the whole time. I shoulda just stayed under the covers. Gotta go buy a belt, later. I HATE those damned serpentine belts! They blow about every 20K miles, seems like.
