Took a trip back to CA last week to go waterfowl hunting with some old coworkers.
We're all military and they're all leaving California for better places in the spring so we figured a last hurrah blasting waterfowl would be nice.
There was primarily three of us and we stuck to the base for all of the hunting. Lots of different blinds and tons of water this year, so we had plenty of opportunities.
Total for 7 days was 39 ducks and 5 Canada geese.
Of course, California weather didn't disappoint: 65 and sunny all week long.
Made an absolute ton of jerky too...I'll be snacking on it for months!
Day 1
Sprig and mallards (4 total)
Day 2
Wigeon, mallards and woodies
Day 3
Couple mallards and lots of divers (bufflehead, ruddy ducks)
Day 4
SCORE! My buddy shot a banded drake mallard and I got woodies and mallards.
Day 5
Goose hunt. Scored 4 by 730am, and I doubled on two with a Browning Citori O/U (shooting Hevi-Metal 3.5" BB shot).
My double.
Day 6
Mostly wigeon and a pair of mallards and a ringbill.
Day 7
Clearest day yet! Very slow. Wigeon and a honker (funny story...I bought a Zink Paralyzer the night before...and as we were packing up I was blowing on it trying to figure it out...next thing I know a pair of honkers come bombing in...I didn't even see them, but my friend did. One on the ground!
