He often mentioned moving somewhere up north but I forgot exactly where.
Maybe he packed up the truck and made the move, or took a vacation?

He told me he was moving also, but he didn't say where and I would never have guessed Alaska. He was working on a gun of mine and I
hope it made the trip ok-lol. Seriously, I hope he and his family made the trip ok and are doing well.

He is wayyyyyyyyy up Hereeeeeeeee in Southeast alaska. prolly building his iglo and driving off penguins as we speak with a six shooter in each hand wearing a sombrero ...

actually he has moved to Prince of Wales island. F4AAEFA3-D343-416C-BFF1-2C45BE700996.jpg

Besides what he already knows about revolvers, he is going to learn about the Hunt and subsistance in a very remote and wild alaskan place. He is living the dream, but it takes a while to get there...

so the Op asked... has anybody seen the kid?

I have..

He's used to rattle snakes, no rain, and Comancheros, and I bet there's some nasty ticks and other pesky bugs in Texas. He will survive. I imagine anywhere in Texas close to the border is not the place to live right now. Probably no accident that he relocated as far from there as possible.

No idea what you mean by that, I can see Juarez from my house. I can tell you, trouble only finds you if you go looking for it. I grew up amongst the muck and mire that was Juarez in the mid 2000's, and I can tell you, it's nowhere nearly as bad as it was. Man, I can tell you the sounds a man makes when he's gutted in his own home, or the smell of man being boiled in a barrel of grease. At least, the Juarez/El Paso area ain't been that bad in just over a decade.

All I meant was, or was referring to is the hundreds of thousands, possibly millions streaming over the border right now from Central and South America, and other places too. I'd choose Alaska over that!!! :)

But getting back on topic, I wonder if the Kid got himself some bigger guns?

Yep Colts percussion six shooters even the 44 ones would be a poor choice agin some grizzlies. ;) Or I should say the Alaskan Browns.

One time, riding my flathead Harley on a 103 degree day, and waiting for the light to turn green, I felt like I was being boiled in a barrel of grease. And once when I was suffering Montazuma's Revenge...I thought I was being gutted in my own home.

However, wow, how cool would it be to just pack up and move to Alaska? I'd move to Idaho, only 30 some miles away, but I don't think I could get my garage cleaned out. I'm stuck here for the duration. Man, what an adventure the Kid must be having. Perhaps he'll pick up a 12guage Hammer gun like he wanted, and fill the shells with black powder and .690" round balls. Best of luck to him.

White Socks the worst bug of all time! Their in Iliamna not far away. The 44 might stop them.
Enjoy the freedom up their it's truly God's country.

Could have moved to Idaho a long time ago, but back then the political climate in Washington State didn't suck like it does now. Idaho is certainly a "better place" these days. (but how long will it last?) But now we are so firmly planted, and have way too much "stuff", moving would be such a monumental and expensive task. Kudos to the Kid for making his escape!

I just got relocated to Southern Arizona where I belong. Kid went North I went South. I finally got my shop set up so I can take in some tuning work or other black powder gunsmith work. I bet the Kid moves South again before too many moons.

That's good, you made your escape also. ! I bet there's lots of Jackrabbits there. When I lived close to deserts I sure had fun hunting them with the 7X57. I've always thought that Arizona was a nicer place than Texas, but have never spent much time in either state. Oh well, I escape as often as I can, hunting, hiking, exploring, dirt-biking and I have a good long range kayak. And a sail boat, that I sail in Idaho. So I'm not totally trapped. And I can still shoot in my backyard, although I try to keep it down to where no one complains. Or organizes a "no shooting zone".
