I was planning on buying one when I first read about them on AR15.com several months ago, but ended up buying one of these instead:

I paid the same price for it used as the LULA is new. It only held 20 rounds, and was pretty much a 'one time deal' as far as loading quickly... I really shoulda got the LULA...

The guys who import the LULA also claim that it is easier on the mag's feedlips than stripper clips because the rounds never touch the feedlips as it loads into the mag. From the video on their site, it looks like they're telling the truth.

Well, I did get one and so far it is great!

It is true the LULA doesn't come anywhere near the feed lips. It actually depress first the mag follower and then the consequent round till full or as many as you want in the mag.

On of the cool things about it is that it also UN-loads a magazine even quicker than the way it loads it. So that is a blessing on both my fingers and my old unloading tool.

I recently got one as well. It's a pretty nifty device, but as all my ammo was previous stored on strippers, its usefulness has been pretty limited so far. It's definitely easier to load than by hand, but I still think stripper clips are easier - sure, with practice you could probably load a mag with the LULA in a couple of seconds - after "prepping" the rounds, at least. That is, making sure all the rounds are pointing in one direction. Going straight from boxes to mags using the LULA is much slower the loaded mags with preloaded stripper clips.

It does unload a mag damn fast, though. However, I prefer the more traditional and noisy way of doing this ;).

Rocko

On the contrary, I don't have to do this at all. I grab the round between my thumb and my index finger and turn it to whatever orientation I need then just drop it in. I can load it as fast as I can pick up the rounds. I can UNLOAD the magazine faster with the LULA than with the trigger on my AR. :D I have only been taking two magazines to the range as of late because I can load them in the field quicker than my gun cools down. Why carry the extra rounds? I would like to see this device for the M-14/AR-10.
