Anybody shot a CZ O/U or SxS

They're made by Huglu in Turkey and branded with the CZ name. They have a mediocre reputation for quality but CZ-USA is pretty good at standing behind their guns and fixing anything that breaks. I wouldn't buy one for a lot of clay shooting, but they're OK for hunting.

I have a 20 ga O/U and a 12ga Coach gun

They are beautifully made and sturdy. I don't know exactly where or why the internet rumor trashing them started. That's why I don't pay much attention.

I concur with the above poster. I LOVE CZ rifles and pistols, but their shotguns are not made in the Czech Republic and are just a mediocre Turkish shotgun with their logo on it. If you are a hunter that's going to put a box or two through your gun a year, then they'd probably be just right for you, but if you shoot a lot of targets as I do, then I'd pass them up in favor of an SKB or a used Browning Citori.

You guys need to quit writing off turkish guns so quickly. I know there are some that are not that high quality but there are some dang nice ones. I have a Yildiz O/U from turkey that has had over a thousand rounds put through it without one single problem. Is it the equivalent of a rizzini? No but its a dang good gun from turkey. Same thing with the CZ. Its not the equivalent of a nice english gun but comeon. it will serve a purpose for more people than the hunter who only puts a couple of boxes of shells through it a year. Its a dang good gun and would serve you well in the field, or on the skeet range.

The Yildiz is at least marketed for what it is. Too many gunmakers are importing guns with their name on them. Uninformed buyers purchase them thinking they are getting a gun made by the name maufacturer. On another forum a guy asked about the H&R pump for $150 stating it is made in the USA when in fact it is made in China. The Turks I am sure could make very good guns but the market is looking for cheap and that is the price point they make the guns to. As long as shooters keep buying the cheap stuff they will continue to make it.

I have had a CZ Ringneck in 28 for about a year. It had to go back to CZ twice, as it kept doubling for me on the skeet range.

They fixed it, and I have since run at least 500 rounds through it on a skeet range. Over-all I am really pleased with mine, and the quality is considerably better than I expected considering the new price was considerably less than any other double I considered.

Thanks for all the info, after reading a lot of threads on several sights I think I would be better off if I looked around to find a good deal on a Browning or Beretta. On the CZs some people think they are ok and some people hate them but know body seems to really like them a lot, but everybody likes Browning and Beretta.

Huglu/CZ Shotguns

Guys, I have read the original message and replies with great interest, not least because my company, T R Imports Inc, is a major dealer of Huglu shotguns. Most people who know anything about Huglu shotguns have learned about them through CZ's marketing efforts. In 2005, when CZ decided to add shotguns to their long-established line of handguns and rifles, they chose Huglu from among all the manufacturers available. That fact itself is significant. Huglu is Turkey's oldest and largest gun maker. I want to be careful here, because forums such as this should be for sharing information and not promoting products, which is why I think it is important to disclose that my company sells these guns. Nonetheless, I have information that I believe will be useful. Like all manufacturers, Huglu makes guns in a wide price range. We stock guns from around $400 to over $3,000. Huglu warrants their exported guns for two years, and our experience with them has been so good that we extend that warranty to five years. Our return rate is slightly over 1%, with about half of those for doubling, a problem that is a fact of life in all double guns with mechanical selector block, and a problem that is easily corrected. Customer response to these guns has been excellent, and you may find it of interest that we supply rental guns to the Dallas Gun Club, voted the best all-around gun club in 2006. You better believe it; they're truly magnificent shotguns, in any grade!

Here's my 28 gauge Bobwhite; for what it's worth, it seems there are more problems with the O/U's than the SXS's, and more problems with the single trigger models than the double trigger guns.

For a hair under $700.00, I've been pleased with mine. The only change I would make is that I wish it had fixed chokes instead of screw in chokes.

That "problem" is easy to fix. Just remove the choke tubes and de-grease the choke tubes and the choke threads in the barrels. Then wet (with water) the choke tubes you would like fixed in the gun. Insert these choke tubes in the gun. In about a month, VOILA..... you will have a fixed choke gun. I wish that all problems were this easy to solve. :D
