If an online retailer doesn't charge sales tax, we have to contact the state and pay it ourselves. In this case it's called "use tax."
pretty much every state has a use tax... Id venture to guess that 99.99% of online shoppers do not pay it.

This is precisely why we need to fight Universal Background Checks!
Effective a "poll tax" on our Second Amendment Rights!
In my earlier post about how to find the best deal I should have mentioned that Bud’s does appear on www.gun.deals. The cc upcharge and shipping charge generally make it not the best choice however. But occasionally...Here is my formula for best price considering we have state and local tax in Houston.
Look up the actual model number of the gun you want.
Search for it on www.gun.deals.
Find the lowest price offering from an out-of-state store that ships free and doesn’t charge extra for credit card.
Buy it and have it shipped to my preferred FFL (cost $25 for the transfer).
With this method I beat any price I could find locally. Occasionally a local gun show might have it cheaper, but the tax usually nullifies the advantage.
Which is why a lot of states are pushing for the collection of all state taxes on internet sales. My bad fortune that I live in the same state as Bud's and two giant Amazon warehouses...I get soaked for 6% when I buy from them.pretty much every state has a use tax... Plenty other folks to buy from in other states. As i said, search on www.gun.deals. It’s harder here in Texas where many of the online shops reside, but there are plenty of others in the list.Which is why a lot of states are pushing for the collection of all state taxes on internet sales. plain-jane Ruger 10/22
Six of one, half dozen of the other. Since the cheapest transfer charge around here is $25 it only starts counting somewhere above $400 anyway.Plenty other folks to buy from in other states.
