Bud's VIP... Really?

So you're saying that you just give money to any business hawking a good or service without regard to its inherent value? That's a rhetorical question because we both know the answer. The irony is killing me here.

And lets put a stake through the membership vampire once and for all: What does that have to do with me or anybody else here? I don't do amazon prime. I don't do barnes and noble book clubs. I can't think of one area in my life where I buy into permium service upgrades. Just because other like programs exist doesn't automatically make this one right or valuable, nor even have anything to do with those people participating in this thread

You mentioning it has no relevance to the content of my opinion here. Yes, they do exist. And what's your point again? It has absolutely no application here on this topic unless I were somehow participating in them... Which you couldn't possibly know since you haven't asked. You assumed. If I did, that would make me a hypocrite and you would have some leg to stand on.

When you can tell me how Amazon Prime makes Bud's VIP a service I should buy into, I'll listen. Until then, it's completely irrelevant.

I live at least two hours from a major city like Tupelo, Memphis or Nashville. I drive a truck that gets 10mpg. It's throwing money away to drive 120miles every time I want to buy something. As a result, I order a lot of stuff from Amazon.com. I'm a member of Amazon Prime. Which means I get everything I order, from the smallest to the largest shipped for free and upgraded to 2-day service. It saves me money, unquestionably.

When I go to those major cities listed above, I go to the bookstore. I buy a lot of books. I'm a member at B&N. It gets me an automatic discount (at least 10%) on everything I buy. Including coffee. It has saved me money every year I've been a member.

The advantage of those two memberships is that they save me money. Period. End of story.

Bud's is no different. Only what you're buying is opportunities. New Lipsey's exclusive at Bud's? You get a message 72hrs before it becomes available to everybody. When they're only making 500 of them, that can make all the difference between getting it a proper price or paying through the nose on Gunbroker. Or not getting it at all. Looking for guns that they don't make anymore? You get dibs on it if it comes into stock at Bud's. That can save you money, it can get you one more gun off your wish list and you can get it faster than you would otherwise. You also get same-day shipping. We've all heard of customers waiting for days, even weeks for Bud's to ship. You get refunded if the price drops within 30days. With this membership, I'm sure Bud's is trying to keep you as a repeat customer. They want to be your first stop. Just like Amazon, Barnes & Noble or anybody else. "Bad business"??? Not hardly, unless you got your business degree from Walmart.

It's summed up right there on the site:
"BUDS VIP is an optional service available to any customer who feels the additional cost is a VALUE to them. Product Previews, Free Classified listings, Price Protection, and VIP phone/email options are just some of the BUDS VIP benefits !"

I've never bought from Bud's and never plan to. However, it took all of 30seconds deliberation to realize the value of their membership. Who knows how much time wasted bickering about it with you. Dumb.....on my part.
