I was just wondering if anyone is currently producing a 10mm auto besides Glock?

Colt has just recently released the Delta Elite again. This would be my choice before any other.
EAA makes a witness in 10mm, the full size and compact. I know some others make them but these are the only two that immediately come to mind.

Sphinx makes some really nice 10mms and Bren Ten is beeing reproduced by some company. (Its interesting that Sphinx, EAA and Bren ten are all CZ 75 inspired pistols)

You can add Dan Wesson and the Springfield custom shop to the list. Just remembered the Kimber Eclipse in 10mm.

Thanks for the replies. That STI looks like a beast!

Now, if only I can get that money tree to start producing, I'll be able to pick one of those up. =)

Dan Wesson recently discontinued 10mm's. Perhaps they are taking a hiatus from making them as Smith did with the 610? Some rumors on the web seem to think so but who knows, but currently their website shows no 10mm's in production.

Kimber did/does make some but on limited runs.

Springfield Custom carry

Colt simply re-introduced the Delta elite but did not upgrade the gun. Which may or may not have been a good thing.

And the Vltor "New" Bren 10 has become something of a debacle.

Sphinx? I have never seen or read of a 10mm from Sphinx?
Their website shows nothing of the sort. Do you have any info to share I would like to see that.

Except for Glock and EAA all other options are big $ 1911 platforms. And that will limit their appeal in the overall scheme of things.

If you want a 10mm there are only 3 I'd consider. The Glock has proven to be the best choice in an auto. If you like revolvers the now discontinued Smith's are a good choice as is the Smith 1006 series of pistols. If you can find one of the Smith autos you can argue that it is the best 10mm pistol ever made.

The 1911's in 10mm are a mixed bag. Some work OK, some don't. I love the 1911 pistol, but mine will be in 45 ACP thank you.

The EAA and others have been very problematic, especially in 10mm. I've known too many guys with too many problems to recommend them.

I would make that argument. At one time I owned quite a few 10mm pistols, including the 1006, 1076 and 1066. I also owned a Star Megastar, Bren Ten special forces dark, and both Glock's. By far the Smith 10 series was my favorite platform for launching 10mm bullets. And I am a huge Glock fan!

I even carried the 1066 as a EDC in the late 90's. Smith 3rd generation pistols are excellent guns overall.

I have met many a 1911 super fan who feels the same way you do. They don't want a 10mm 1911 and some have said they would not take one if given to them.

Ammo's not that much more expensive.

The 10mm ammo also has lack of choices and is often out of stock and few big makers make it in modern SD ammo. Hornady makes it in its critical dfense and Corbon in DPX and Winchester makes it still in the silver tips although thats a bit dated of a bullet and the price of silver tips has skyrocketed.

for example

SGammo has 9 types of 45 ACP listed and only 2 10mm (and one is reloaded ammo)

Ammo to go has 16 FMJ 45 ACP choices and well over 20 SD choices they have 3 FMJ and 7 SD 10mm (and 3 are the magsafe and extreme shock stuff)

So price is not the only issue the 10mm faces. Although price does seem to suffer too.

Remington UMC is $22.95 for ACP and $27.49 for 10mm

CCI Blazer is $16.95 for ACP and $24.95 for 10mm

After a while that difference would add up. Reloading seems the way to go in the 10mm.

Dan Wesson has a 10mm Limited edition out right now. Black Duty Finish with OD VZ Grips. Very sweet looking. The DW Section on another board has one reviewed there.

EAA has a different line thats a Turkish made Z2 pistol that is a cz pattern pistol that you can get in 10mm also and the price is LOW at 450 retail. It is used by turkish military and police and has been around a while. Steet price should be closer to 375 maybe.
