I am running low on wheel weight ingots, and the few deals I made for more fell through on my end, dagnabbit. I don't smelt, I don't mine the berms at the local range or haunt the tire shops, so I threw caution to the wind and decided to look for something local. Boy, did I find it.
Seafab, http://www.seafab.com/default.html , does nothing BUT lead, about 20 minutes from me, and have the 92/6/2 alloy for casters in either 62 pound imported pig ingots for $1.75 a pound or 25 pound locally cast ingots for $2.03 a pound. Considering what I might save in shipping, this sounds like a decent deal, especially being local, makes a 124 grain 9mm bullet about $.04 each, not counting the $.25 an hour in electricity. :). Compare MidwayUSA certified alloy is $35+ for 7.4 pounds. Without shipping. Ouch. But then again, who orders Midway lead? Anyone??
The ghosts of master casters past are angrily waving their ladles at me for not smelting my own, but I don't have the quipment or the room right now.
Seafab's Jami was very friendly and pleasant, knew exactly what I wanted, more than helpful. Discovered on thier website they sell specific bullet swaging wire too. Nifty! had no idea they were around the corner.
Thoughts?
