I figured someone would start dumping the 10 round only rifles for pennies soon, with the standard cap rifles coming in, and my wife would like one of them. Mags are still available, and 10 rounds of 7.62x39 is better than none, which is what I can afford right now. Just curious - tax return season is upon us.

just how hard it is to open up the mag well to convert them???

About 10 minutes worth of work with a dremel tool and 5 U.S. made parts. (some WASR's came with U.S. parts already installed, those were a steal for $170).

so the magwell is the only thing different between the hicap and lowcap wasrs(other than us part count)?someone had told me that the bolt is different too, which is prolly why they were asking 250 for a lowcap back during the AWban.anything for a buck.

would it be legal to get one of the lowcaps, get the us parts count and dremel the magwell to accept hicaps?Ive never understood how that worked.

If it is, I would keep the reciept for the 20 or so parts in case the ATF knocks on your door. It may be cheaper to buy a legal standerd AK instead of fixing a crippled one.
