Pointed end works great in tight places.
Blunt end works good for light scraping and patch pushing.
Maybe this has been covered before but I found it usefull this weekend.

:)
Guilty.

Go to Popeye's Chicken and order the Corn on the Cob as your side dish, save the "stick" , I just order and eat the chicken with the corn so I can get a gun cleaning tool. ;)

Neat part is one can re-sharpen the "tool" in a pencil sharper...if you can't find your pencil sharpener * ahem* I guess you have to go back to Popeye's for another "tool" . I have "had" to do that...lots of times. :D

Well, I've been seen using wooden toothpicks on my guns for much the same use as for my teeth. Little pointy tools in little small crevices. Works like mad.

the wood handled cotton swabs they give you in the military for weapons cleaning can be broken or cut to give a tip also.

Skewers is clever.

I use the blunt end of bamboo skewers to run a patch through .22 LR's. Seems to be the right fit on mine.

It would have to be A. It had honestly never occurred to me to try such a thing.

New levels of penny pinching are now in my horizon. :p

Oh....then you are gonna appreciate going to the dentist and not only getting a new "free" toothbrush , but a dental pick as well.
He only "suggested" using these for oral hygiene...didn't say one "couldn't use" for firearms. :p

Yeah,.............but does anybody use a cleaning rod to make shish-ke-bob?

I know of a certain Sheriff's Deputy that shishkebobed his hand while trying to pound a stuck round out of a pistol by using a section of cleaning rod and his hand as a hammer.

But I won't post his name. He's much bigger than me.

Hmm.... interesting responses. I know I will be ordering the corn with my Popeyes in the future thanks SM. I like the wooden implements because they won't scratch the blueing on my pistols like the metal dental pics will.

Is the silica natural or is it added for some reason? I dont need sand in my pistols.

Mike

Silica occurs naturally in bamboo, mostly on the exterior surface I believe...

If you've ever worked with bamboo, you'll notice your plane blades get dull really fast.

Well thanks guys thats nice to know. It really does not concern me as I dont force them down the barrel or the like. I just use them to dig stuff out of hard to reach places usually on the frame.

Speaking of Dental...

You know those itty bitty rubber bands they use for braces? Ever need a "O" ring to take up space for a stock bushing...guess what works?

Those really thick wooden dealies that resemble a toothpick , fancy name escapes me, like a toothpick on steroids - yeah them , they work.

There has to a good use for dental floss on a firearm...besides pulling a patch through...getting it down the bore is a pain.

Wooden Ice Cream Spoons, like the small Yarnell's Ice Cream come with...they are great for "scooting" residue out of a shotgun receiver...not a fan of Pop-Cicles, but the wooden sticks from a Fudge bar or "Push-UP" come in handy. ;)

I can just imagine the women at supper saying : " honey why are we having Popeye's , with Corn on the Cob , with Yarnell's and Fudge Bars for dessert ?"

Oh some guy on the Internet said Chicken tastes better if eaten with chopsticks...you know if came off the Internet it has to be true :p

My nephew has Lincoln Logs, I wonder....

Shish Kabob skewers!!!

I've been using Chopsticks from the local Chinese buffet for years!!! Never considered Shish Kabob sticks. Chinese buffet won't mind if you get a couple of extras , just don't be greedy!!! They will even work well as a patch pusher for a 22 handgun, if the barrel is not to long! And they last a lot longer than I think Shish kabob sticks would.. . :) :)

How do you guys keep the meat and veggies out of your guns???

sorry,not eough sleep last night....
