Anyone else wish for a 357mag New Vaquero birdshead from Ruger?

If I had a wish list to give to Ruger that they would listen to, . . . it would be a 357mag New Vaquero with a birdshead grip [some nice sort of wood], nice blued finish, and preferably the older cowboy look [instead of the straight top with adjustable rear sight]. [Updated] And, I would love to have the Bisley style hammer as well. Barrel length, 4 3/4 inches. THAT would make an awesome SAA, IMO.

I know Uberti makes one like this, but I would rather have a Ruger, and in the New Vaquero that indexes correctly when the gate is open, and includes the transfer bar safety.

Yep, . . . . . that's what I would want.

When Ruger made the original Birdshead on the larger Vaquero frame, I hoped they would make the one you mention. When they did, it was with the longer 4 5/8 inch barrel, not the 3 3/4 inch barrel. I currently have Birdshead New Vaqueros in .45 acp in blued and stainless but have had to "settle", I guess, for a 3 3/4 inch Montado in .357.

Actually, i'm not sure the BH grip would be all that good with the more powerful .357 rounds. I don't know. It's dandy at .45 acp levels.

Gary, I would only run 38 specials in it, if I had one. But I would rather have a barrel length closer to the 5" mark.

I had a 45acp birdhead, but got rid of it.

Anyway, for every one else, . . . I updated the "wish list" in the first post...

Anyway, if not the one in the OP, . . . I suppose I would be okay with a Bisley in 357mag that is blued. I do NOT like the pearl/chrome look.

Orion, the revolver you describe does sound attractive. I wasn't certain I would like the Birdshead/Montado style hammer, but I do, a lot. I *think* it is more a Super Blackhawk hammer than a Bisley hammer but could be wrong. Isn't the Bisley hammer even lower? And, maybe slimmer?

Yeah, the Bisley hammer is super low, which is what I like about it.

So, if Ruger made the revolver described in the OP, do you think it would be a big seller, or just mediocre?

Birds head 3.75 inch in stainless with low style hammer and ivory grips. 357 / 38 of course
Yup, me too. I'm pretty happy with my consolation 357/38 Montado though, stainless, 3.75 inch barrel and low style hammer. I understand I could eventually add the BH grips to it.

I thought about putting one of those birdshead grips on my 1958 Single Six, but may not match with it. And then, there's the CLC Claro Walnut grips I have for it already that would no longer be used. Plus, it would take away from the originality of the revolver. Oh well.

I'll just have to hope Ruger makes either the OP suggestion, or at least releases a Bisley New Vaquero in Blue . . . maybe with something other than the typical wood Ruger uses. Perhaps a dark walnut or the like.

Well........
you could buy a Montado and a Birdshead grip frame, and fit it.

Or...settle for a Birdshead in 45 ACP, like this one:

I had one similar to that. The 45acp was a bit much for me. That's why I was wanting to stick with one I could run 38 Specials in. Thanks for the suggestion, though.
