I have a bunch of M14s in various configs and I just picked up this new stock that makes my M14 into a Bullpup. I haven't started the build yet. I ordered it with a Left Handed Charging handle, which I think is almost as cool as the Bullpup idea. I was wondering if there is anyone else here that might have already built one, that can give some advice.

I'm a fan of bullpups, but that flash suppressor and flashlight come off as kind of 'tacticool-ish'.

I'd bet that "Operator" didn't pull the trigger with no hearing protection, and a braked .308 about 12 inches from his face...

+1 on that muzzle brake being way tacti-cool. Otherwise, it looks like an interesting (and I'll bet quite pricey) stock. You'll have to report back on the trigger pull after you get it built, that seems to be a universal drawback of bullpup designs.

Ahh...a purist. If it makes you feel better I have a wood stocked M14 too... Sometimes you get bored and need to tinker. Those are manf. website pics., obviously not mine, since I haven't started my build.

Here is a question: Would you bed a HW barrel or Standard barrel in the bullpup? I have two weapons I could bed in this stock. I also have a JAllen stock for whats left.

HW barrel would give you a low profile counter-sniper. You no longer have to carry two weapons, just one heavy one. I like the idea of putting a red dot on a 45 rail for CQB, and a super scope on the Rogue, but it may wind up weighing a ton. I have a tanker set up in an EBR for CQB already....

or...would you bed the regular barreled rifle stock M1a in the Rogue leaving the HW super match to be bedded in the JAllen? Keep the Bull-pup for CQB and just slap an EOTech on it?

Is it a waste to bed the Super Match in the Rogue Stock you think? Taking it out of GI Fiberglass. Its a Competition gun, but my eyes are going now, and iron sights are getting fuzzy. It has been rebuilt with all GI match parts...match gas cylinder, etc.

I would put the standard weight barrel in the bullpup stock. THe whole point of such a stock, I would think, would be to make the rifle maneuverable for close quarters, and handy to pack around in the field. Light weight would be the way to go for that. Plus the bullpup isn't really optimized for precision... it wouldn't have the greatest trigger, and it looks to have the sight radius of a large pistol.

The JAE is a very heavy stock to begin with, and isn't probably something you will be humping around in the field, so I would put the midweight barrel on it and keep it as a target rifle.

My only advice would be to double up on the ear protection.

That cool guy in the photo can't hear it thunder now!

Iowa State Code 10465A: All persons operating a truck, or other vehicle with a cab and/or cargo bay area shall be required to raise at least two fingers in cordial acknowledgment to other drivers while utilizing all public roads within the state of Iowa. This law does not apply to residents of cities with a population exceeding 7,500 persons. :neener:

do the fingers have to be from one hand?

I'll stick to this however as it is what worked for me in the (distant) past

Nice.

That's up to you to decide, but from what I've seen, a bedded NM rifle (McMillan stock) shot basically the exact same group as the same barreled action in the Rogue stock. Don't look for an accuracy improvement if it's already properly bedded. On top of that, a Supermatch will probably be lugged, is it not? The lug might prevent it from going into the Rogue anyway. I don't know that, but I'm just saying that it might be something to check into.

Honestly, JMHO, that stock costs as much as a whole 'nother rifle. I'd just as soon not part with my money, and keep my rifle looking like a rifle.

That Rogue is so ugly, if it came in the house, I'd beat it with a broom.

To each their own though.

To each his own, but I find that bullpup a complete abomination. :barf:

No offense, by the way. Diff'rent strokes, diff'rent folks and all that.

@dprice3844444: That depends on the other driver. :D You would be surprised as to how... active drivers some of the people out here can be. Let's just say that the county speed limits are viewed as helpful suggestions.

That's 2 for the HW in the JAllen and none for the Rogue. Its only ugly if you have one M14.

The idea of putting the HW barreled weapon in the Rogue was to have a Counter-sniper and CQB in one weapon. It might be heavier, but still lighter than carrying Two different rifles. Do you buy that?

Jason, What scope mount are you using on that weapon?

Juggernaut Rogue M14 Buyers First Impressions

I posted my first impression on some other boards I belong too, also. I figure there are some people out there like me that aren't selling the thing that want an honest opinion on the weapon system. Here you go...

FIRST IMPRESSION: The thing is Light, Stock, buttstock, and grip. It is a lot more compact than in seems in the picture, which makes me happy. This ain't no JAllen or ERB. This is a rifle that you could shoulder without any extra burden to patrol.

I am tempted to leave it lightweight for a CQB style, or Heavy Barrel for a reasonable weight counter-sniper?? Still on the fence with this.

I took a look at the trigger, and it looks well designed, not cheap. It has a push button safety. I will have to wait for the build to see how it feels. Reports are it adds a pound. We will see.

The trigger group on the M14 is used to secure the weapon into the stock. It is High Quality Aluminum all over. It goes together real easy judging by the instructions. I have it half way together, checking things out. The installation looks stupid proof easy. The trigger guard is large enough for me to shoot with gloves. I was concerned about that.

I took a look at the grip, and compared it to an Ergo Palm Swell I had. I was going to just put it on, figuring any stock grip would be cheap. Well, I had to put the Ergo back in the box. The Hand Grip on the Rogue is awesome. You can see that this is one place JTact ended up putting a little weight onto the weapon. It is nice and hefty, It is a well engineered rubber grip and ergo friendly. Since this is a bullpup, you want a good center of mass grip. i like it a lot.

The rails come standard with numbers that cost extra on other stocks. They do not protrude in a way that makes them sharp edged. There is not much to snag things on with the Rouge. I am thinking where I want to put a rail attached sling point, or just so with a single point.

The receiver is well covered and provides protection to my face. I like that. It is interesting to see how they engineered it. The top of the stock has a rubberized place for a good cheek-weld. I am wondering if I am going to have to pad that for a large scope.

As some have said, it was up there in price. I compared it to my other builds and it seems every custom build ended up costing around the same. $1000 plus a piece. The difference is you don't have to buy anything else. Even a JAllen needs a separate handguard to get top rail. This weapon includes everything.

Building an ERB, or a Troy are both, just as expensive. If you are going to build battle rifles out of the M14, you know the price. No cry babies here. After good optics you may well be over $4000 for the total weapon.

If you like doing M14 builds, I would recommend buying this stock. It is a quality piece. It is the lightest build out there that gives you a scope rail solution for the M14. This stock is way different than the others. If offers a small signature. No one would think that you were packing a 1000 meter weapon. The Rogue really has a nice light weight small footprint. Nobody would guess you had .308s shooting out of that.

Changing out mags is definitely going to be different. I think that if you want to have a nice portable package like the Rogue you are going to have to enter the world of the Bullpup, and learn a new weapon skill.
