Does anyone have a concealed carry permit in md? Im soon to be 21 (2 years) And was wondering howeasy it was to obtain, or how hard itwas to obtain. Was there a fee and such. I go down to baltimore a good bit and some of the place are pretty bad down there. I was thinking about getting a CCW for this reason. And was wondering if anyone had experience with obtaining the permit. I knew one guy who got one before, but im no longer in contact with him.

Umm, go visit "Packing.org".

Then try not to weep too loudly.:(

Seriously, I didn't know how bad it was until I started visiting here and other gun boards.

I have been writing my state Delegates and Senators, short of moving (and I'm thinking on that) its what we can do!

Two years is a long time off, but dont get your hopes up, a CCW permit is practically impossible to get in Maryland for non-business owners.

that's the key here in lovely maryland -- non business owners of a cash-based business.

i do have one friend that has a concealed carry permit. he and his family own and operate a beauty/salon store. b/c he makes cash deposits from the store to the bank, he was granted a concealed carry permit for that purpose. it's actually bright and cheery looking license too :)

From what I understand, if you have documented (police reports) evidence of threats on your life, you might be able to get one.

And I have also heard that the CCW for cash business owners only allows you to carry to and from the bank, not 24/7. (I could be wrong).

Basically, we're a no issue state.

Crappy thing is I can't get a PA non resident CCW (spend a good bit of time there) as their law says a non-resident has to send in a copy of their home state CCW with the app. And since MD is a "no issue-may issue", well its a Catch-22!:banghead:

Greyhound, I spoke with someone in Ohio who has a PA non resident permit and Ohio doesn't have a CCW law yet, you might want to check on that again.

Thanks, but I did check and apparently if your home state has no CCW at all you're OK, but technically MD has "may issue" so that's that.

No provision for "no issue-may issue states"!

What Kharn said.

It's easy for a MD resident to have legal CCW in Pennsylvania, just get your Florida out of state permit and PA will honor it. It's even specifically mentioned on Florida's website, I remember seeing it once.

The irony is that outside of Philly and Pisstsburgh, you don't really need CCW in PA, but here in Maryland, we should never be without one - it is the fifth most dangerous state in the US after all.
