Hello Guys-
Excuse what appears to be a simple question...but where did you find the "Special" Garand listed on the CMP website?
I appreciate any guidance you all could give.

By the way......there are some beautiful Garands some of you have posted.....great jobs.

You might try calling the stores . ..they were all supposedly sold out but a guy found one in the last couple of weeks at the South Store. FWIW.

I'm that guy who found one...

It turned out that there were two "in the back" that were reserved but never paid for. They decided enough time had passed, so they offered one to me.

I snagged that bad boy as fast as I could!

Unfortunately, i think I got one of the last two that the CMP had. Sorry!

is "special" a step above "collector"?

No, special grade is one that has been rearsenaled by the CMP. New barrel, new stock, everything checked with a fine tooth comb, and reparked. Also comes with a leather sling.

Yep... good as new, but most likely with mismatched parts, which doesn't matter if you want to actually shoot it vs collect it. ;)

Sweet Looking Rifle!

That Garand looks great! :) Receiver is around April 1943.

Warning! Someone is already drooling over your rifle! :what: You'll just need to get another one for your son. Probably a CMP field or service grade.

Congrads on your new rifle. You'll truly love shooting it.

I plan on getting some more CMP M1s for my kids... maybe a carbine or two. I wish they all looked as good as this 'new' one. :)
