Cool man! Got any pics? Did you aim for the pin or miss and hit it?I know the 150 grain bullets I have expand pretty darn fast at standard velocity. One hit my push pin holding the target in place and in the distance from the push pin to the cardboard opened a 1” hole. There was melted plastic stick to the hole from the pushpin head.
The report is significantly reduced about 1100 fps....like SD, as in firing inside a house if someone breaks in? if I was going to tackle this - I'd probably want to know at what reduction in load the report drops off enough so I'll maybe save some of my hearing. possibly use a hollow point, and there is also probably a drop off in recoil, that would make it quicker and easier to handle. yup, if I was messing with this, I'd just load some reduced loads in a ladder and go with whatever just felt the best and fastest for follow up shots, but - still potent enough.
Look at what folks are doing with 300Blk/300 Whisper. They aren’t going lighter bullet, they’re going real heavy for caliber going subsonic speeds. Try a powder like CFE-BLK and a 245gr cast FN. https://missouribullet.com/details.php?prodId=204&category=6&secondary=36&keywords=
Well in the case of a 30-30 having a hunting load would be most easily explained... it's a hunting rifle...Interesting thread like many other but I gotta laugh. Loading the perfect HD/SD round sounds like Goldilocks wanting it "just right". I have my HD guns loaded with factory ammo. Period. I want it to work. Plus I wouldn't want the press to say I had "premeditated" some special load I made my self to shoot someone. Everyone talks about shooting an intruder but if it actually came down to it you would be happy with whatever ammo you had and a clean pair of shorts after. jmo
.30 caliber handgun bullets? What won't they think of next? The potential for over penetration is what I’d be concerned with. A light handgun bullet, HP, would likely act like a varmint bullet at higher speed. Explode on contact. That would be the direction I’d look first.
I've been eying 30 carbine bullets cheap at rmr, they don't have a cannalure and I don't have the tool..30 caliber handgun bullets? What won't they think of next?

Good luck finding any...
This is why I'm always kinda tempted to get a .35 Remington or .35 Whelen. It would be nice to have it share bullets with the revolvers for plinking ammo. But since I'm too lazy to go hunting, I don't buy either.
Bingo! You beat me to it. I use exactly that boolit and was happy they told me about putting some of my 300 BLK to good use.
Exactly. It,s what you bought and had on hand for hunting. Not made specifically to shoot someone in your home. Buckshot and soft points they sell at the local store. Over penetration? You could get that with almost any centerfire rifle or pistol load. Besides you wouldn't worry about what load you had if a guy whacked out on "bath salts" tried to kick in your door in the middle of the night with the wife and kids screaming. I was lucky that night. So was he.Well in the case of a 30-30 having a hunting load would be most easily explained... it's a hunting rifle...

I'm not worried about that at all. The metal Russian rounds would have me concerned.I’ve been looking at those too. Does the brass vs copper jacket cause trouble?

As far as I know 30 super carry is like .311-.313. Might be good for a pop load in a 303 or 7.7Aren't those designed for the new 30 Super Carry from S&W/Federal...?

Not great in my Marlin. The bullet is so short it doesn't feed well.I've been eying 30 carbine bullets cheap at rmr, they don't have a cannalure and I don't have the tool.
