When we were at the Reno gun show a couple of weeks ago I ran accross this guy selling an odd looking powder measure. I sopped and watched the demo and was left with the feeling I need to get a new powder measure. My RCBS works just fine, but this Quick Measure looked like it worked better.

Anyone have one that can relay some real useage experience?

Here is the website. http://www.quick-measure.com/

Hoakey magic?

I dunno, I've spent a lot of time on his website trying to figure out how the darn thing works. I'm not currious enough to spend $150.00 to get one, then find out it's a load of BS! If he'd offer a money back gaurentee, then maybe, but it looks like you own it for eternity if you're dumb enough to buy it! It looks like a gimmick, never saw anybody that has one, or heard about a user on the innernet.

I don't like the idea that you hand hold the measure in order to directly charge a case. Seems like that would introduce inconsistancies all on it's own. Laying it down to do something else couldn't be good for it either.

The means of adjusting it reminds me of black powder measures for rifles. The need for a seperate "guage" to set a drop tube is 1920's technology!

He said it worked much better setup in a progressive press. Said the pregressive press forced you to be smooth and consistent He gave a really good and very complex explanation of exactly how it worked at the gun show. It all made perfect sense while he was explaning it. But then he did build the thing.

I have one. I use it on my Hornady progressive press when I load rifle cartridges. With powders like IMR-4895 and Varget, it's easily within +/- 0.15 grains, and it does not cut powder, ever. That's not as consistent as the +/- 0.1 grain claim - most of the time it is that consistent, but for some reason I occasionally got a charge that was slightly further out when I was testing. Either way it's good enough for my uses. For comparision the Hornady measure that came with the press was only consistent within +/- 0.25 grains or so with the same powder, and was cutting powder kernels all the time.

It does work in a weird manner. It's really difficult to explain, so maybe I'll try to shoot a video when I get some free time. The thing that's hard to get used to is that it drops powder on the down stroke, not on the up stroke like most case-activated powder drop mechanisms. You have to change your rhythm or else you spill powder everywhere. For that reason, I still use my Hornady measure when I load pistol rounds in full-progressive mode.

The progressive linkage he sells for the measure works well and is easier to adjust for case height than the one that comes with the Hornady measure.

I don't have the setting gauge. I just measure the tubes with my caliper and make a note of the measurement for the powder charges I need.

There's other threads there, do a search like I did.

I'm beginning to like what I see, I may take the plunge. If for no other reason than to see how it works. The "valve" is what has me guessing. The tubes are like I said set with a volume limiting sliding set screw. The more powder you need dropped, the larger the tube needed.

Perhaps part of my tax return could go for that!

I knew that I had seen someone who recommened these (I remembered checking out the sight, but getting scared off by the price).
You might want to shoot Ol Joe a PM

No need.:D

I still have mine and still feel it does a real fine job.
Matt seems to have the same opinion as I do, it doesn`t cut powders and drops very good charges as long as you keep a good consistant motion. I agree it cost a few $$ more then the run of the mill measure but it is a bit more accurate and works lots faster, if that is a plus in your book.

Looks neat! Can't see how it works and can't believe it will outperform the BR-30 or a 10X (which I have on my OLD Hornady Progressive) and definitly not a Harrels, which are the measures to compare with in this price range.

Looks Cool though. And it probably works well.:)
