I'm thinking about purchasing some upgrades for my Surefire G2 or maybe a rechargeable flashlight kit. If I upgrade my G2 I'm considering the kit to make it a rechargeable and the 120 lumen bulb. Do you guys have any experience with this setup? The kit is expensive at $85. For $151 I could have an 8NX kit with a 110 lumen bulb that will last 50 minutes, instead of the 120 lumens for 20 minutes for the G2. I do want a flashlight I can carry in my pocket easily though, and both rechargeable routes means a 7" flashlight instead of a 5" like the stock G2. I don't know how much 2" will really make though.

Are the rechargeables as bright as the equivalent battery powered lights?

I have an 8nx that I use when I am working (parttime) in construction defect investigation. I have an extra batery and a charger for the car. You're right, the 8nx is big. I carry it, along with all my other junk, in a tool belt. It gets constant intermittent use throughout the day and performs well. As far as portability and your G-2 I think that you could buy 6 boxes (72) of batteries from surefire for the price of the rechargable conversion. It would take a lot of time to run through those 72 batteries. Real world?? I don't think we use our lights as much as we imagine we will. I have a G-2, 6-P, 9-an and the 8nx. I can't remember the last time I replaced the batteries in the g2 or 6p but I seem to use them often enough. (Well not so much now that I have Black Bears 951 MagLite conversion Just used it again last night for scary noises!)

I had an 8NX, some time in 2001. It was awful. Also had a 6R which was ok.

I have an E2e and A2 and am much, much happier.
