The Ropers were designed by S&W guru Walter Roper. They have an open backstrap and can be made for most shooters' hands. Even folks who 'think' they have big hands. The Jordan Trooper was designed for legendary Border Patrol officer and exhibition shooter Bill Jordan. Bill stood 6'5" or 6'6" and had the biggest hands I have ever seen. If you see any pictures or video of the gentle giant with the Texas twang, his hands were even large for his tall frame. B-I-G-! He makes his favored four inch model 19 look like a toy in his big mitts. These stocks completely enclose the grip frame on all three sides. If you have monstrous hands, these are for you. The folks at Herrett's can probably examine your hand tracing and determine which would be best for you. They've been at this game a long time.

Pachmayr also offered a synthetic, one size fits all version of the Jordan Trooper. These turn up from time to time.
