Picking up a 25-06 m77 tomorrow, and h4895 is the only powder I have on the shelf at the moment...
anyone have experience with H4895 and 25-06?

It's fine. You can get a little more velocity out of a slower powder but not that much. It works all the way down to 69 grain SMK 223 match loads. If I had to standardize on one powder for all non-magnum centerfire rifle cartridges from 223 through 8mm Mauser, it would be H4895.

Works fine.
Some of the tightest groups that I ever shot with a 270 was with IMR-4895. Don't see any reason why it wouldn't work in a 25-06. Mboylan is right about the slower powders. My go to powder is IMR-4350 or IMR-4831 but I have yet to hear a deer complain about a bullet going 200 fps slower.

only reason I hhave teh 4895 is its my go to for Garand loads.. But I was rocking .4" groups out of a 308 I had with it as well...

Works great with lighter bullets like 87 grainers.

thanks.. anyone got some pet loads? I'm really hoping for 115-120gr big game stuff..

I have found H4895 to put out some very accurate loads in several calibers. As mentioned though if your looking for a higher velocity powder then I would suggest RL-22 as one to hunt for.
Back to the H4895, Hodgdon list loads for nearly every bullet weight on their Handloading site, and again while top end velocity for this caliber isn't there, with the 115-117gr bullet loads you should be fine with anything out to 200yds easily. Choose your bullet for the game your actually after.

It will still give .257Roberts speeds and top accuracy.
Consult several manuals and start 10% low like with any powder.
I suggest trying 100gr bullets. You'll be able to get 3,100fps w/max loads.
My Hornady #3 manual has H4895 DATA.
43.0 MAX W/120gr 2,900fps
44.0 w/117 2,900
44.5 w/100 3,100
46.0 w/87 3,400
49.5 w/75 3,500
Use CAUTION with this data. I rounded down to nearest 1/2gr charges and they are from a circa 1980 manual.
