I'm looking at muzzle devices and notice that alot of people complain about being next to people using comps due to blast and pressure. Here in NJ flash suppressors are illegal so I'd like a legal muzzle device rather than a bare barrel. The Levang linear comp appears to be a "range friendly" design by directing blast forward, but I want to know how it compares to other conventional brakes on felt recoil and muzzle flip.

Additionally, this would be put on a standard length rifle barrel, all of the info I could dig up was discussing it on SBR's and pistols and comparing it to the Noveske "Flaming Pig".

Any help/info is greatly appreciated.

I used it. It reduced the blast a little, good enough for 30 bucks. If you wear protection, I'd say don't bother. The idea is good though, I have a more elaborate comp of the same kind, sorry forgot the name, was about $90.

I had one on my short barrel AR for re-directing the muzzle blast. Doesn't compensate much at all. I had a Noveske Pig as well. For the price, go with the Levang. (IMVHO). Personally, I prefer an Ops Inc M4S single chamber suppressor over either. ;)

I have one on a 10/22 and one on a 20" .223

On both, the blast and noise are diverted frontward enough that you don't have to wear ear protection...i use them on hunting-geared rifles...although if i were at the range i'd be wearing ear pro anyways for other guys there.

On the .223, it sends everything forward well. Everyone who shoots next to me walks away happy; unlike some of them, with those tank-style brakes that hammer the guys to either side.

I should add, they are not intended to curb muzzle climb or recoil...in fact, recoil might be increased a bit..which doesnt matter much on a .22lr or a poodle shooter.
