Anyone have problems with CCI Blazer in .40 S&W???

I had three failure to feeds in my Beretta 96 last weekend. They all came from that aluminum cased CCI Blazer stuff. I shot roughly 250 rounds. However, all three of the jams happened on the last round. Any thoughts?

I have shot thousands of rounds of Blazer and have honestly never had a problem. I can't say the same for Federal, Winchester, or countless cases of mil. surp.

It sounds like it is more of a magazine problem than a ammo problem.

I've shot thousands and thousands of rounds of the Blazer in Glocks - G17, G19, G22, G23, G27, G33, G36... I've also used it through intensive courses at Thunder Ranch, Chapman Academy, LFI, etc. It's always been fine through my guns. (I have over 5,000 rounds of it in various calibers sitting in my ammo locker right now! )

Everytime I use Blazers my accuracy tends to drop a bit, but I have never had any failure of the kind that you describe. The only failure to eject that I had in a .40 S&W within the past six months, however, was with a Sellier & Bellot FMJ. An oddball, it had a primer but little or no propellant; so the gun went "POP!" without cycling at all.

I've shot plenty of Blazer and had very few problems.

As far as possible feeding issues, just rub two of those aluminum cases together and then do the same with brass cases. The aluminum has noticably and obviously less lubricity than brass so I can't see how the aluminum would be conducive to better reliability.

Having said that, I have shot Blazer in the past and will shoot Blazer in the future when it's on sale. If ordering in quantity, Georgia Arms has brass-cased ammo as cheap as I usually see Blazer in 40.

Most of the practice ammo through my CZ40B was Blazer. I had zero problems with it.

I put quite a few rounds fo 9mm Blazer through my Taurus PT99 and my EAA Witness and don't recall any consistant problems... Again, it always comes down to the individual gun and sometimes, the individual lot of ammo.

Generally it's decent stuff but I'd rather spend another $1 per box and get brass. I hear Blazer is going to be loaded in brass pretty soon... Haven't heard what price changes we should expect.

Speer has offered Blazer with a brass case its called "Lawman".

Glack - not quite! The Speer Lawman is the top-of-the-line self-defence ammo. The "Blazer Brass" is, as you say, a brass-cased version of the aluminum-case Blazer rounds: but it's not the same as "Lawman". I've illustrated the three below: first, regular Blazer, then Blazer Brass, and finally Lawman.

By any chance, were you shooting out of an XD-40?

If so, then it may be the gun, cuz I had the same problem. Maybe the xd just doesn't like it?
