Well my Bereta 92 has been sitting in the closet untouched for about 3 months. It had a loaded 15 round magazine with CCI Blazer ammo that I bought at Academy way back when, 2-3 years ago at least (because I remember only ever bying CCI Blazer the one one time). Anyway, I am cleaning several of my 9mms and decide to go ahead and clean all of them while I have all the stuff out. Anyway, I remove the mag and cycle the slide. Works fine. I re-insert the mag, make sure the safety is on, and chamber a round for a brief function test. I eject the round and get sprayed with gunpowder! Somehow the bullet was removed from the casing. Luckily nothing bad happened. It looks like the next three rounds in the magazine are loose too; I can just pull the bullet out of the casing. I have not checked the rest of the mag.
Is this ammo safe to shoot? I have 14 rounds left in this mag plus 4 more 50 round boxes of Blazer in my closet. If it is NOT safe, how does one go about disposing of ammo?
