Here you find pictures showing the recoil spring and shock housings
The M-3 have shock protection on the recoil spring and the M-3 X have improved recoil protection on the rubber feet

you mean the spring with the gray/blue plastic part? doesn't look like a recoil component. I thought the spring is to push the lens cap forward so it won't turn loose easily.

There is no way that the bulb's contacts could fail to make a connection with the body's contacts and the hefty spring surrounding the bulb is there to absorb some of the shock that occurs during weapon firing and recoil. After nearly 50 test fired rounds, the bulb of the M3 remained operational and intact.

The proprietary mount M3X bulb is larger than the M3's at though based on the same design, the M3X bulb is different from the M3 bulb; it is designed with a Shock Suppression System, which combines rubber feet on the bulb holder, rubber grommets in the reflector, and a softer spring.

Taken from the above link for the M3 and the M3 X
They talk about of SHOCK SUPRESSION SYSTEM
