when Bass pro has primers. they want 5 buck a 100..any small primer.

gander has them, a few weeks ago for amost half what basspro wanted,

I did how ever find what I needed at a gun show last month, 22 bucks for 1000,in small rifle and small pistol.

I found 4k more SR yesterday at a shop that didn't have them last week. He wanted $31.99/1000 so I left them there - I'll go get another 1000 at the shop where they are $24.99/1000. He has 3k left there. Hit the streets people, the net won't do anything but scare you.

I found a small supply of them at Kame's Sporting Goods in North Canton, Ohio. $32.99 for WSP. I bought one box and left the others. The clerk was slightly surprised I left the others. I told him "I'm glad to see your getting some supplies in" He told me when I walk out the door he will put another box of primers on the shelf.:D Very good idea!:)

We're getting ripped off!

I just paid $58.99 for a 1000 count box of what seems to be the last box available anywhere. I've spoken with several distributors, and they tell me that can't get any primers from the manufacturers. Manufacturers say they're producing at max capacity. Just doesn't add up. It looks very much like the recent political scare and the increase in demand is being used as an excuse to raise prices.

Yep, I agree. Didn't want to pay it, but needed it to shoot this weekend. But that will probably be the last for a while. However the way I see it, by over overcharing us, they are giving Obama and Pelosi exactly what they want without having to do anything...

oh come on guys I'm 18 and sold my car to hoard primers, bullets, brass, and powder a year and a half ago. I've got something like 40k of each standard cci primer size, and many many thousands of other crap. back when it was cheap.

I've since reacquired a vehicle....by selling stuff at gun shows for a pretty penny ~.^
you old tigers should step it up a notch

Us old tigers could be buying everything we see and reselling it for a profit. We aren't stupid but we also realize money isn't everything. I know where there are enough primers to buy and resell to make at least $1000 in profit right now. But there is a bigger picture that you will hopefully see someday. There have been storm clouds gathering since the country was founded, but moreso since the time of the civil war, and we're going to need each other. Maybe never in my lifetime, but I try to keep the friendship between gun owners going as much as possible. Someday it's going to get ugly.

If you need some cash to get by I would help you out in a second. Buying all the supplies in your AO for the purpose of reselling them at a profit simply screws the other guys and perpetuates this issue. I fear that once the prices go up they will never come down and you my friend are helping to drive them up.

Maybe we should start a sticky for helping each other out with reloading supplies? You could click on a state on a picture of a map and it would bring up a section of a forum dedicated to that. People could post what they had found or what they had for sale/trade.

If the manufacturers decide they can sell less for more, they will. That allows them to lay people off and make the same amount of money and we not only pay more for reloading it will be harder to stock up when we want to.

zt77-Something about that doesn't smell right. You were 16.5 years old and hoarding supplies to make a profit? Nah...

I like the idea of having 40k of each one avail. Be careful and make sure you store them well. If people are paying the money for them , keep selling em.

okay 16.5 yeah sounds right i've had an apartment since 16, perhaps you just matured a little slow. the local gun dealer was ordering them online for me since he doesn't do reloading supplies, never once asked for ID. not even bass pro in tulsa asks. nor has anyone at any gun show ever asked.

they are stored in 20mm ammo cans each with silica based lube around the seals and a fresh pack of dessicant in it

Storing primers in sealed steel cans is a Very Bad Idea.

Hello, Here's my findings today on my trip to Omaha, NE. First stop, LaVista (on the edge of Omaha) went into Caballa's I saw no primers:uhoh:. Second stop, Scheels in Omaha, they had some Win. large pistol primers but no small pistol primers. (I bought 1000 of them $26.99) Last stop, Guns Unlimited in Omaha, they had both Win. small & Win. large pistol primers. :)(Bought a 1000 small pistol primers $31.99) So all in all it was hit or miss on primers. LM

Went to one of my local sporting goods stores, not a big box store. They had winchester large rifle standard primers for sale for 28 dollars. I bought a box of 1000. I don't need a huge amount. Heck, I have shot maybe 300 rounds of centerfire (outside of 45acp) in the last 8 months. I really don't need 100,000 primers, the 20k that I have is plenty for a long time if I never buy again.

I was talking to a dept mgr in Cabelas last week and he said his reps told him the mfgrs were concentrating on ammo manufacturing but they have recently been catching up with demand a bit. He said primers were going to start becoming available again in the next couple of months. Told me online orders were backlogged up to 60 days at one time and are down to 3 weeks now. Keep your fingers crossed.

the set up here could be a visit from the ATF or fire marshall which/who could cite you for infractions of regs and set your own world into a legal @#$% storm. I gotta stop and think about this!!!

Bought a few bricks of Fed. SP Magnum Match a few weeks ago $40/k, 200 FED 215s last week, and one brick WLRM this week, also $40/k....they are still out there, just keep looking.

Scheels (DSM) has put a limit of 1000 per customer until supplies increase....
