hello,
i just saw in my local bargin hunter paper, someone is selling a ivery johnson champion 12guage, and a stevens nitro special 12 guage, for $50.00 each, are these worth picking up for that price, i was going to offer them $80.00 for both of them, if they agree should i buy them?but i have never heard of the ivery johnson,
thanks,
jon

That would be an Iver Johnson. Solid guns, plain. They are probably worth exactly what you think they are when you look at them. If in good condition, probably a good deal.

Iver Johnson used to make good low cost plain guns, a copy of the M1 carbine, shotguns, etc.

They're nothing spectacular, but they're good working guns. Cheap hunting pieces or low cost HD guns for someone on a budget.

Utility grade shotguns, both are pre WWII and possibly have short chambers, the one variously described as 2 1/2, 2 9/16. 2 5/8" ad infinitum. If chambered for 2 3/4", good light duty field guns. No short mags nor non toxics, but for light lead loads, fine.

IMO, worth gambling $80.

Just in case you haven't seen them yet they are single shot break open shotguns. Value is about right if in good working condition but make sure you read Dave's post on chamber length and shell recommendations. They have limited uses .
