Anyone know how to remove the action bars and bolt from a Remington 7600?

I have to replace the o-ring that go's in between the tube that the action bars connect to and the tube that connects to the receiver itself. I took it back to Remington's Ilion's plant a few weeks ago and they sent it back to me the next day saying it's within spec.

I just don't see how it can be in spec when it just started rattling out of the blue one day. And if I hold it upside down and work the action, rubber pieces from the factory o-ring fall out in little pieces. Remington sent me two new O-rings. They said all I have to do is remove the forearm and the o-ring will go right in place. That isn't the case.

Anyone know how to remove the action bars and bolt from it?

The slide does not need to be removed, just the forend.
Remove the forend screw, then the forend, pump the slide back and there will be groove at the end of the action tube, Item 4 (the tube the slide goes back and forth on) for the action ring, item 5 ("O"-ring)

I'll try it again later. I still think the slide with the action bars connected to it has to be removed.

I'll let you know how I make out.

Thanks, NYH1.

I took the forearm off again. The only thing that an o-ring would fit through would be the hole in the end of the tube that are connected to the action bars. There isn't any groove that I can see looking at it from every possible position. If you have a picture or something that I could look at I would appreciate it.

Thanks, NYH1.

I took it apart and put the new o-ring on it yesterday. It wasn't that big of a deal once the tube that's connected to the receiver came loose. The o-ring that was supposed to be on it was gone just as I told Remington when I dropped it off at their Ilion plant. They however, said it was fine and "in spec", which it most certainly was not.

I've also been dealing with them over a newer Marlin 336Y 30-30 Win. (little 12" LOP stock, 16.25" barrel). This one doesn't seem to be going any better then my 7600 Carbine went!

NYH1!
