Anyone like to carry a Big Gun?

Ive carried a full size gun, both fat and skinny, and no problems either way.

Now maybe if you tried to do it fat, wearing skinny clothes...... :)

so how about the mag capacity of a 1911 or 220? are 7 .45acp as comforting as 20 9mm?(my dilemma)

Having carried both, I like the 17 rounds my Glock carries a lot better than the 8 my 1911's and P220's carried.

With the advances in ammo these days, there isnt enough difference to make a difference.

Better to have rounds left in the gun when its over, than to be caught short in the middle.

Nope, I'm way too skinny for big guns. I prefer subcompacts for daily carry.

Being skinny is the ideal body to be able to CC a full size. I'm 6'3 and 160 lbs and a full size doesn't bother me.

Curious what you mean by there being no difference... Is there an article, or a ballistic study you can guide me to?

Here's an article about he .45 ACP.

I went hiking yesterday with my 5" 1911. I was a little worried about how it'd work out. It was fine. I just had to cinch it up every once in a while. Probably hiked 5 miles, moderate/easy terrain.

If you like the .45, and shoot it well "realistically" (not based on your bullseye target shooting), carry it. You dont have to prove its worth.

Same goes for the others. A good it with any of them is going to give basically the same result. A peripheral hit will any of them, will give basically the same result.

Regardless of caliber, no pistol round is the bolt of lightning some caliber fans want to think they are. Shot placement is the key. Having the capability to load them up, and shoot them to the ground, is a major plus.

If you like to read, this was interesting, and involves both a SIG P220, as well as a .45 Glock....

@ AK103K - you are right on. IMHO

While I do carry full sized guns. (Sig P220, etc.)

I've noticed that as I'm growing older.

And as the newer guns are getting smaller and better.

I grab my compacts more and more. (CZ, Beretta, Sig's)

And if I'm just quickly running to the store & right back ...

I stuff my Ruger LC9 in my front pocket in a DeSantis Nemesis holster.

As Im getting older, I just find Im usually carrying less guns. :)
